Plustek may not be the first scanner name on your lips when you start to cast your eye about when researching the market for a machine to digitise all those old negatives and slides stashed in shoe boxes under the bed. But, it has a steadily growing...
Ease of use, optical resolution, great scans and software package, Auto frame detection
Slow on very high resolution scans; price makes more versatile flatbed scanner or All in One device options attractive
Inexpensive, efficient (up to a point) scanner that won’t break the bank but will provide good quality scans.

Scanners come in all shapes and sizes and they all have different purposes. Plustek makes lots of different kinds of scanners. They have photo scanners, books scanners, and film scanner. Over two years ago I reviewed the OpticFilm 7200, today I am...

For those of us old enough to remember, there was a time when cameras were loaded with a thing called film. You could load film to shoot prints, or you could load slide film that garnered slides for displaying on a slide projector, most likely a Kodak...
Dedicated scanner for scanning those little squares called slides

It has been more than a year since I reviewed the Plustek OpticFilm 7200i. So when I was offered the newer OpticFilm 7300, I was intrigued to find out what the updated model would be able to offer. The Plustek OpticFilm 7300 is aimed squarely at the...

it's neat, it loads quickly and has lots of facilities (?too many?)
No basic guide - It needed a quick one two three guide to get to the basics, if you just want to save your old negs and slides at high quality. Instead you get a 479 page manual which can help you do all sorts of photoshop like manipulation and it can...

Simple to operate in Quick Scan mode and produces excellent images.
Loaded all kinds of unwanted rubbish onto my computer which I am still trying to get rid of. This alarmingly trys to connect to the internet without telling you everytime you go near it.
Consumer review (reevoo.com)
Good quality of scans. There is an excellent option to be able to do batch scans so that the file numbers are created automatically by adding to text you have already entered eg you enter "Film 23 -" and it creates files "Film 23 - 1", "Film 23 - 2"...
The software looks complex to use but with a little be of effort it is easy to operate.
Consumer review (reevoo.com)
Fast, easy to work with.
Poor instructions.
Consumer review (reevoo.com)
Neat and tidy and easy to set up and use
bundled software and drivers both required updating before the thing would work correctly.
Consumer review (reevoo.com)
Compact design, easy of setting up. Quality of final image.
Software requires a lot of 'expert' knowledge. There is no hard copy instructions. It would be good if the slides/negs advanced automatically but given the price that would be asking a lot.
