Plustek OpticBook 3600

This speedy scanner, designed especially to scan bound books, produced mediocre image quality.

The Plustek OpticBook 3600 is ideal if you need a fast book scanner. If you don't, look elsewhere.

Plustek OpticBook 3600

The Plustek OpticBook 3600 can scan loose pages, including photos, but it does its best work with books.

Offers special features for scanning pages from books. OCR is fully automatic and works well for scanning from both books and other sources.

No ADF. Photo scanning lacks features like dust removal and color restoration. Photos aren't as sharp as they should be for the scan resolution.

Plustek Optibook 3600 - PCQuest

This book scanner uses SEE (Shadow Elimination Element) technology, which enables you to scan pages clearly and edge-to-edge. So, no touching-up is required as for those scanned by flat-bed scanners.

Good hardware, software is trash

Use the scanner buttons to access the scan-to-PDF function most easily, start with the 'preview' button. Make certain to select 'book' on the scanner panel.

Works for most books

I scan about 100 images and then close the Digibook program. I then use Acrobat and create a PDF from multiple files, save the PDF, then delete the scanned images (If you do it this way, your settings - i.e. scan area - is saved.) I repeat the process...

Perfect for books

Buy it if you need books scanning - for any other purposes - think twice - it a good scanner but for this price you can get from 3 to 5 regular ones (not pro but good enough for every day usage). This is specific device which can do the regular jobs.

Fast scanning. You don't have to tear and break your books. Very fast in b/w mode. NO PROMLEMS AT ALL! Never any shutdowns or lamp waiting - maybe I'm the lucky one who just has the lucky scanner. 5 books 1200-1340 pages each in 1 day - no questions!!...

Not Ready for Showtime

Plustek makes the only "edge" scanner for books. Unfortunately I spent a huge amount of time trying to get the thing to work with no success.
