Plustek OptiCard 820 review

Practically pocket-sized, but this isn't a great scanner

Pocket-sized ; Simple to use

Not a strong performer ; Not good for scanning photos ; Better off spending more

Good for business cards, poor for photos.

Plustek OptiCard 820

Most business-card scanners are one-trick ponies, limited strictly to business cards. The Plus OptiCard 820 ($149 direct) goes further, providing a Twain driver and the ability to scan photos up to 4 by 6 inches with the current software or 4 by 8...

Small footprint. Powered through the USB connection. Includes software for photos as well as business cards. Exchanges data with Microsoft Outlook and other contact-management programs

Photo-scan quality and business-card text recognition are less than ideal. No scratch removal or color-restore features for photos. No automatic document feeder

The OptiCard 820 is best viewed as a convenience photo scanner and an improvement on typing in cards by hand, but don't expect much more from it. Both Photo-scan quality and text recognition for business cards are good enough to be useful, but far less...

Plustek OptiCard 820

A portable scanner which can scan business cards and color photographs as well.

Compact, Lightweight, Decent software, TWAIN driver, One touch scan, Something new in the market

Have to edit most of the business cards manually, Picture quality could have been better for the price, No auto feed mechanism for pictures

Great Black Friday deal

Great deal for black friday - picked up for under $30 delivered.

Easy setup. Small/compact design, USB Powered

Very glossy prints tend to skate off to the side

USEFUL utility

I borrowed from my co-woekers.

the price is reasonable based on its spec, no doubt and no need to compare with others.

Plustek OptiCard 820 Sheetfed Scanner

Easy to set up and use. Works well. With its price ($20 after rebate), it is likely the best in this price range. I am very happy with the purchase.

This scanner is so tiny and easy to use, it goes perfectly with my laptop, was unbelivably easy to set up and the quality of the scan is really great! I'm very impressed!

It has taken a little time to get the scanner operational. The problem resulted from the fact that the drivers CD to run the scanner that was included in the package was for Windows XP and below while my OS is Vista. Plustek sent a CD for Vista, I...

Scanner worked exactly as represented. It was an easy and quick way to get a 1000 or so business cards into some way I could organize them. Software took a bit of fiddling and better instructions would be helpful. It did not handle complex business...
