Pros: It's cost effective and portableCons;Hard to program, book is very limited with instructions while the selection is large.

Used in a Point Of Sale system
Plugged in installed drivers from CD worked perfectly ; Has a somewhat long cord connected via USB
Nada

would not have payed any money for a non Laser scanner and this one is a LED scanner.. spend the extra on a good scanner that works
Cheap
Must be like 1 inch or less from barcode for it to work properly ; Will not work on all product barcodes like a barcode on a round bottle that our other scanners scan at a foot away

I stumbled a bit when trying to scan in my books before I realized there are often TWO barcodes on a paperback novel. The UPC code is on the outside back cover, and in my experience is not enough to identify the book. The ISBN number is usually on the...
Plugged into USB port of a Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop running Windows XP and it worked right out of the box. No additional driver install necessary. I was able to quickly scan the ISBN numbers of a couple hundred books into Google Books in no time at all
I downloaded the configuration tool from Unitech and it can't talk to the scanner for some reason. That means if I ever want to reconfigure the scanner (which I almost certainly won't) I'll either have to figure out what's wrong there, or use the...

Customization is a bit lacking in ease of use but then again I didn't need to customize the bar-code scanner, and if I did I would have bought something more expensive and flexible.
I've used a bunch of different scanners, and this was one I purchased due to the price. It feels cheaper and is fairly blocky and bigger than I expected ; however, it does exactly what I needed it do which was scan bar-codes ; We're using this in...
Does feel and look cheap, its fairly blocky and a just looks a bit more cumbersome than it should be. But when price is an object this is a great compromise ; The software to edit the input looked complex and poorly implemented though I never had to...

Even though you have to be right on top of the UPC code, you can't really beat the price for a full functional barcode scanner.
Great scanner for a very reasonable price. Just plugged it in and it worked. Long cord for easy flexibility
Scanner has almost no range. Scanner needs to be within an inch to read barcodes
Consumer review (newegg.com)
We've only had this scanner one day, so I can't speak for the reliability. However, the only moving part I can see is the trigger mechanism (which hardly moves), so I can't see how this thing could wear out.
Inexpensive, effective scanner for our limited needs. We bought this scanner to verify that occasional client mailings (approximately 150 per batch) are all sent (and not just printed, etc.). This scanner is able to read a barcode through a windowed...
It takes a little bit of practice to learn how to position the scanner to quickly read a barcode, but it's not difficult. (I've used scanners before, and I can say they're pretty much all like that.)

Look through the booklet that comes with it and scan the labels for keyboardless/laptop first unless you are plugging it into a keyboard with a USB port (like a Mac). Then perhaps one of the other settings would apply. YMMV. Once I scanned all the...
Works great for scanning a wide variety of barcodes. It's quick to scan and has lots of flexibility for configuration. Works with both Linux and Windows and Mac OS X out of the box. Seems sturdy enough and has been in my backpack for a few weeks now...
It is a little bigger than I had hoped and it's a medical-looking blue color but those are my only complaints. Not enough to take away even one egg. :)
Consumer review (newegg.com)
Works out of the box with linux; no drivers needed.
Low cost, fast, and effective. For small jobs this is the perfect scanner. The CCD has a short range, but if you're just scanning a box or piece of paper that's no problem, and the USB cable is long enough. Extremely tolerable of mangled and blurry...
Feels a bit flimsy, but at this price I'll just buy two and have a backup
Consumer review (newegg.com)
Does what it says. Low price. Good documentation. Nice product
Does not have much range (in comparison to other scanners)
