Microtek ScanMaker i800

Microtek (http://www.microtek.com) announced its ScanMaker i800 at Photoshop World in Sept. 2005 and is just shipping a Pro version with upgraded software to read the included IT8 targets. We received an early review unit which sat by our side for a...

The i800 has the resolution, bit-depth and Dmax to handle 35mm negatives and slides, prints and a variety of other scanning jobs without breaking a sweat. We applaud the inclusion of both High-Speed USB and FireWire ports. And we're happy to see a...

Microtek ScanMaker i800 scanner

Microtek's ScanMaker i800 is good all-around printer with some nice higher-end features, like a built-in transparency unit with support for multiple sizes.

Large 8-inch-by-14-inch scanning area for legal-sized documents ; both USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 connectivity

Scanner buttons worked intermittently ; transparency scans over-sharpened at default settings ; a little pokey

As you'd expect, this scanner takes up a little more space on your desk than letter-sized scanners, but not that much. You can use either a FireWire 400 or a USB 2.0 port to connect the i800 to your Mac. I used FireWire

Microtek ScanMaker i800 flatbed scanner Review and Prices

Microtek's ScanMaker i800 is intended for midtier users interested in archiving photographs and slides at a very high quality. With a retail price of $400, this scanner may not appeal to budget shoppers, but that price brings a great deal of...

Microtek Scanmaker i800

The first scanner I reviewed fresh out of journalism school was a Microtek ScanMaker III, a SCSI-based 600dpi color scanner with a bulky transparency adapter that I think shipped with the full version of Adobe Photoshop 3.0. That was in the mid 1990s....

Really bad tech support

I have had the i800 for three years and on many occassions it has stopped working and caused all my USB ports to freeze. I have installed it on a Dell, a compaq, an Asus, an MSI, and an EVGA motherboard. If I have the scanner plugged in then none of my...

MICROTEK (SCANNERS) SCANMAKER I800 CLR FB 4800X9600 48BIT LGL USB FW TMA

The 8300 was purchased (without sheet feeder) five months ago (in March, ‘08) specifically for its legal size capability, to supplement a “work horse” sheet-fed scanner that did not allow much in the way of scan adjustments, and I have not been...

Each of four buttons on the front allow pre-setting as many different variables as desired for repeat operation (including the destination for scan-to-file), a tremendously useful featureâ€"and the pre-setting process is self-explanatory and fast. I...

The machine is large, noisy (in preview mode), temperamental, and slower than its smaller flat-bed h-p cousins,. It installed perfectly on the first day, but stopped working the second, and would not permit an un-install. A week of trying to work...
