Microtek - ScanMaker 4600

On first impression this is very much like the Hewlett Packard scanner. It's the same shape and pretty much exactly the same size, i.e. on the large-ish side. The only real aesthetic differences are that this ...

Microtek ScanMaker 4600

This is an interesting package deal that combines an Internet-friendly scanner with a low-end digital camera.

The ScanMaker 4600 offers home users an interesting package deal with an Internet-friendly scanner with a low-end digital camera. But if you don't really want the camera, the $129 Microtek ScanMaker V6USL (a SOHO chart veteran with similar software) is...

Microtek ScanMaker 4600

Consumer-level scanners should be inexpensive, easy-to-use and versatile and should provide decent quality. The Microtek ScanMaker 4600 gets at least passing grades in all these areas, with much better than average scores in quality and versatility.

Beware of the lightlid 35

The scanner is quick and easy to use. It also has good resolution when scanning with the flatbed. However, The Lightlid 35 is not worth getting. Scanning negatives come out very poorly and there is not any color profiles for the scanner. When I do get...

Microtek...but why?

I purchased my Microtek Scanmaker 4600 in August of 2000. When I went to my local store to pick it up, it was not as sleek as the other scanner models that were on display. So I payed $89 for it not knowing anyone who had this model. I got home took it...

Ease of use, USB is a snap, Good Software, price

Slow with color, Doesn't pick up everything

I'm 24 hours away from returning it

I did my research and chose the Microtek 4600 basically because it offered high quality scans & a free camera. Its going back 24 hours from now. I'm better off buying a good scanner and real digital camera or just a webcam. The basic installation...

All in all, a fairly stable scanner

I was in the market for a scanner, nothing special, nothing too pricey, as i assume like most people out there. This same model comes with a digital camera as well but from what i've read, you're worth sticking with just the scanner.

fairly inexpensive for the quality scanner you get ; easy access 3-buttons on front panel

doesn't come with negative scanner ; ocr program is terrible
