A Pleasant Surprise

I have been scanning photo prints at high resolution using a variety of flatbed scanners. My film camera equipment is high quality SLR and the resulting prints are sharp if the photo lab does a decent job. The problem is that you are have three color...

Quality scans, reasonable speed, easy connectivity, low price

Mediocre software

What a disappointment

I decided to by this scanner somewhere in March 2001. I was attracted by it's price and spec. Also I had read some good reviews, although there where complains about the tech support. I hoped that my knowledge about digital devices would let me not to...

Cheap, good quality/speed for slides, good color, relatively high resolution

not reliable output, terrible customer support, very slow on negatives, autofocusing is bad

A Good Value for Mid-Level User

If you have slides or negatives that you want to scan into digital images, take a look at the Minolta Dimage Dual Scan II slide scanner.

Good value, easy to use, high-quality scans. Uses USB port instead of SCSI.

Slow scan time, customer support not always available and of limited help.

A lot of scanner for your money

It took me a while to decide to pick up this scanner instead of spending the extra money on a more expensive one, but I haven't been disappointed with the decision (and I don't think I'm just trying to justify my own decision).

Price, shadow detail, image quality

should probably use third party software

Just right for non-production use

I shoot 35mm color negatives, but wanted a way to combine the creative control and quality of film and darkroom with the versatility and convenience of digital. This Minolta scanner fit the bill perfectly.

Inexpensive, small, USB, flexible

slow

Minolta Scan Dual II

The scanner was easy to setup and both the PC and Mac. Scanning time is slow, approx. 3-4 minutes for a full resolution scan. Scan quality varies greatly from poor to terrible and film type (slide or neg) or brand (tried Kodak/Fuji/Illford) doesn't...

USB connection & price, if the unit works

Slow speed, very bad color quality & consistency, lot's of noise, very poor customer service

Good for slides.

I bought this to scan all my pre-digital photos, and since I want to continue using my EOS gear and work with the pictures on my computer. Since this scanner is quite a lot cheaper than its competitors, I suspected that the quality would not be close...

Excellent price/performance for slides.

Very grainy negative scans.

Avoid Minolta's Scan Dual 2

I was never able to get the scanner installed. Even called on a local tech for help but he was not able to install. Three e-mails to Minolta did not bring any return communication. A phone call was answered by what was suppose to be a tech and he...

Never found any pros

Difficulty installing and absolutely no support from Minolta.

Amazing scans at a very good price.

I purchased this scanner for $420 and I have been very happy with the results. I am a semi-pro photographer and was very skeptical that a scanner at this price range would yield professional quality scans for printing and displaying. I was wrong. ...

Great quality, especially for the price.

Lack of manual control.

A Good scanner for the money

My purpose in purchasing a slide scanner was to enable me to create saleable prints from a large library of slides. I researched the various scanners quite extensively on the web. Prior to the introduction of the Scan Dual II I was most interested in...

Good quality, Good price

No Digital dust remover, Questionable service
