Kodak ScanMate i940 review

A portable scanner - but is there any need for it?

Compact ; Can be powered from just one USB port ; Quick scanning time ; Good image quality

Flakey software ; Expensive ; Noisy ; Not for everyone

Overall this is a flawed device that scans well, and is portable, but is also quite expensive and has some installation issues.

Kodak ScanMate i940 review

Indeed, asking prices in the £300-£500 range are very common. So, at just £259, the Kodak ScanMate i940 has an obvious advantage. But what do you lose in opting for a comparatively cheap model like the i940?

The Kodak ScanMate i940 has a fairly low price for a business sheet-fed scanner. As such, you shouldn’t expect fast performance, amazing quality, or a raft of features and software titles. However, if you just want a solid little sheet-fed that can...

Kodak ScanMate i940 Scanner for Macintosh Computers

The Kodak ScanMate i940 Scanner for Macintosh Computers is a capable portable scanner that's also good for light-duty desktop use.

Designed for the Mac. Fast for a portable scanner. 20-page ADF. Duplex scanning. Can run from AC or battery power. Nearly matched rated speed for USB-powered scans.

Subpar OCR performance. Scan times under AC power were well below its rated speed.

As the Kodak ScanMate i940 Scanner for Macintosh Computers is the first scanner we've tested using Mac hardware and software, we can't do any "Apples to Apples" comparisons to other scanners we've tested. I can say that although its performance didn't...

Kodak ScanMate i940

Pushing the envelope for how big a scanner can be and still count as portable, the Kodak ScanMate i940 ($395 direct) comes out of the box looking like nothing so much as an oversize brick covered in black plastic. It also looks a lot like the Editors'...

Fast. Duplex (two-sided). Scans to searchable PDF format as quickly as to image PDF. Can get power from a USB connection

Big and heavy for a portable scanner

The Kodak ScanMate i940 is unusually large for a portable scanner, but it's also fast, offers an automatic document feeder, and can even serve as a personal desktop scanner.

Good Document Scanner

Works well with Windows 8 but make sure to download and install the latest drivers.

Fast, small and easy to clean if needed. Very good price. Work good with other Windows applications

Don't bother

I packed it right back up and sent it back. IF you want a good business scanner stick with the Fijitsu Scanners... they DO support Evernote and will make your documents searchable... awesome!! Guess what I'm ordering? Certainly won't ever be Kodak junk...

There are none.. it just scans. That is the ONLY pro

After you install their software within it you can clearly upload your scans to Evernote... well wait no you can't. I could not get it to work... so I emailed Kodak.. and I called Kodak... and I emailed them again... FINALLY got an email back saying...

Great scanner for the money

This scanner works great. Scans quickly and with high quality. Had to call customer support to fine tune my settings (whether the scanner would read one side or two sides of paper). Found out it could be set to read which ever is being fed.

No cons!
