Another surprising aspect of the design is the positioning of the hinge. Whereas most flatbeds have the hinge at the rear of the scanner, the Epson has its hinge placed to the right, so the V370 opens to the side like a back-to-front book. This design...
A significant upgrade from your typical MFD’s scanner function, the V370 offers very good quality for a sub-£100 model. It can handle slides, and the lid can even cater for thick books. It doesn't look great, and the protruding wires could be an issue...

The set up was easy. I have started using it and it is producing good scanned documents. I have yet to try scanning slides and negatives so cannot comment on this. I have it on my worktop facing me in landscape mode so the lid opens up against the room...

Scans are clear, lid allows you to scans items of different thicknesses. Can scan slides and film - main reason for purchase.
Epsom Scan software is terrible, not intuitive. Full Auto mode is extremely slow and not worth using if scanning a lot of items. Help and instructions for the software are worst I have seen.

I makes good copies of negs & slides, some quite old

Very good at converting negative film to photographs. We removed the plastic film and slide grid and through trial and error managed to convert sections of old photographic negatives and save to pc and send on to printer.
Wish the band for negative screening was a bit wider so as to take photograph negatives as well.
