Epson Perfection 636U

An excellent pick for home and SOHO users who want the same quality offered by the SCSI model, but for less money.

The Epson Perfection 636U is an excellent pick for home and SOHO users who want the same quality offered by the SCSI model, but for less money. Its easy setup and good-quality documentation are a boon to novices.

USB1, but a nice scanner

Good quality scans. Older, so should be cheap if you can find one.

Slow at higher resolutions. Don't lean on it too hard.

Epson Perfection636U

After four years of having a sheetfed scanner, I decided to buy a flatbed. The first thing I did like anyone else is read reviews. I decided on the either the Epson 610 or the Epson Perfection 636U. When I went to my local Comp USA it just so happens...

Razor Sharp Pictures,Good Software Bundle,Setup is Easy

Great scanner for SOHO

After months of trying to decide, 600 or 1200, I finally went with the 636U. It was cheap, $60 or so. I really need it for OCR in my home office. The accompanying software stinks. I went with Omnipage Pro 8.1 for the Mac. Extremely smart and easy...

Very inexpensive, reliable, works well for SOHO

not 1200dpi, included software stinks

Drat! Someone's having a sale again!

Ease of use & Quiet as a churchmouse.

Electronic manual instead of a paper one.

Excellent thing.

Lemme just tell you what I look for in a scanner: I don't want anything too fancy and expensive, since I'll probably be doing mostly college work / nothing professional. I like speed, too, since my lab has an old parallel port scanner (Microtek...

USB, cheap, great TWAIN software, (very) fast in my opinion

Beyond TWAIN, software's weak. New models have higher resolutions. Heavy.

A SCANNER that SIZZLES!

The EPSON PERECTION 636U is a wonderful scanner to give you above-and-beyond service. Not long back PC Magazine rated it the leader of the pack in its class, and that was what made me take a look at it.

A Superb tool.

None encountered so far.

A good workhorse scanner.

I bought this scanner to scan photos that I take so that I have a backup on CD.

Fast - decent color output. Good size and easy setup. USB

Scanned photos come out too dark.

If Only It Worked Using Win 95...

Review of Epson 636U Scanner (December 23, 2000)

very easy to use, includes USB cable, inexpensive, good quality scans

WILL NOT OPERATE IN WINDOWS 95! Scans are not "perfect". Poor instruction booklet.
