Good workhorse - lasted 3 or 4 years

I bought my Epson Perfection 4870 scanner in the UK about 4 years ago. It cost about 400 pounds. A cheaper one would have done just as well except I needed the firewire connection to my Mac computers, so choice was limited. Its big and ugly (grey and ...

Has given 4 years good service, and probably ten thousand scans before breaking down

Very expensive when new. Several bundled options that I tried and never used again.

Epson Perfection 4870 Photo Color Flatbed Scanner

This device is my latest acquisition. I have wanted a scanner since I purchased my first PC 5 years ago. I also wanted a scanner that could perform at the same level as my computer and the software that is installed in it. The Epson Perfection 4870 ...

Superior quality with more resolution than most people really need

I wish this scanner had a 14-inch bed.

Highest resolution, FireWire interface, Negative support, Macintosh support.

Expensive. Doesn't integrate fully with MacOS.

Fine all-around scanner

Extended density range over other flatbed scanners, Digital ICE, outstanding results.

Price a bit high, not the fastest scanner, takes up a lot of space.

The Epson 4870 Perfection Flatbed Scanner:Perhaps Perfection was too Strong of a Word.

Very high resolution, scans documents and film, USB and FireWire, PC and Mac compatible

Hinges seem fragile, very large, scan quality is slightly disappointing
