Canon's Cleanup Scanner

The CanoScan 9900F handles both scanning and photo restoration.

Canon CanoScan 9900F

The Canon CanoScan 9900F ($400 street) is a versatile flatbed scanner designed primarily for imaging pros who require occasional negative and transparency scans. The 9900F delivers excellent image quality, an easy-to-use interface, and an impressive...

CanoScan 9900F * - Midrange Flatbed Scanners

None of these scanners emerged as a slam-dunk winner. Each had strengths and weaknesses in different areas. The Canon CanoScan 9900F was our scanner of choice because of its all-around good image quality. Its moderate price and hassle-free software are...

Best image quality across the board ; good color matching ; good detail capture

Blocky shadow detail in reflective images ; software won't save settings

wonderful scanner

I was concerned about getting a scanner after not having one for so long, but I couldn't be happier.

Excellent scanner, with incredibly intuitive button options and accompanying software. Was ready to purchase 3rd party software for the scanner, but found that it was unnecessary. Scanner does exactly what I want it to, and well. Incredibly fast...

Short learning curve in getting used to using the scanner with the supplied software. Also, won't crop photographs that are spaced close together, so the images have to be spread far apart, giving a max of about 4 photos per scan. However, with the...

Decent for Negatives

For the money, this is a great scanner for digitizing your old film negatives with decent results. Overall, I am pretty happy, but the software could be a lot better. I could not justify paying 10x more for a dedicated film scanner for slightly...

Reflective (platen) scanning is very high quality and very quick at 300dpi ; Film holders work well ; Batch scanning of film

35mm scans come out looking a bit soft even with Unsharp Mask turned on. Fine details does not show up that well compared to a dedicated film scanner ; Image quality for film scanning actually gets worse beyond 5000dpi ; Scanning stops occasionally...

Better than average results with negatives

Scanner was delivered to my door in 24 hours with standard shipping, but was not in a standard brown shipping box. Instead it was shipped in the box that comes from the factory that tells the world in technocolor what is in the box with large photos...

No wall wart power supply, comes with a real power cord ; Quieter scanning than the HP scanner it replaced, fast warm up times, does not take forever and a day to scan negatives at 1200dpi. Software does a decent job using default settings ; Scratch...

Adobe Elements 8 included has a bloatware feel to it compared to earlier version levels. Takes 3 to 4 minutes to load. Scanner is physically taller than the HP scanner this replaced. Mail button only has options for outlook or outlook express. scanning...

not so great

Sadly there is not a good option this and the Epson V600 are both pretty mediocre. for 3x the price the Epson v750 might be better. Not convinced, my 5+ year old Epson 4180 still is better than the 9000f or V600.

nice looking

does not actually scan at 9600 optical ; The included software is horrid, plan on spending another $100+ for Sliverfast. The included software is pretty bad and tedious, requires multiple apps to be opened then scans then go to another app to save. Any...

Results after 3 months of using the scanner

I have been using this scanner intensively. This is an excellent piece of hardware and I have been able to get great scans from negatives and slides with excellent colors. When I bought this scanner my first impression was to be disappointed because ...
