Proiveds high quality scans at high speed. Can cope with all sorts of film formats. Looks as if it will cope with heavy usage and last well.
The manual seems inadequate. It is not really comptible with PhotoShop = you can't realiably scan from Photoshop. It weighs a lot.

I use this to scan my 120, 135 negative films. It is very good.

Scans 35mm negatives very well with actuate colours.
Software is very old looking but never the less works and produces good results.

Love the speed that this scanner scans over my old Canon CanoScan 4400F which i had a little over 9yrs & 8 months as i mainly scan books, leaflets, magazines along with the odd photo films for friend. Already scanned 3 books with over 200 pages each &...

Good at scanning large format negatives and transparencies. Holders for standard formats, but larger formats still can be scanned directly on the glass, under another sheet of glass to hold them flat. Much faster than my previous scanner. Solid...
Much bigger than other scanners - this is to accommodate the backlight in the lid. You wouldn't buy this unless you needed to scan transparencies or negatives. No autotone on scanning greyscale photos (but low fading correction on colour does the same...

Scans very quickly and can pick up multiple photos. Film scanning is effective.
Awkward to put film in holder.

Very good quality scans. Worked out of the box using sane on linux. Plugs into mains rather than a plugtop PSU.
Lid hinge feels a bit flimsy so needs careful handling IMO.

This comes with the worst software I have had to install in 25 years. Who ever came up with the design should be fired. Any other scanner software is an improvement. I was warned by the users and it has proven their point. So sad of Canon as the cost...

I use it mainly for scanning negative film and slides

It's just what I expected a very good scanner. It performs in a similar way to the earlier CanoScan 8400F which it replaces.
Nothing that I can think of.
