Canon CanoScan D660U

This CCD-based scanner offers attractive color for Web images and a film adapter, but its performance is slightly sluggish.

The CanoScan D660U will appeal to value-conscious buyers who are willing to trade slow scanning speed and a lower optical resolution for the included transparency adapter and a big software bundle.

Don't buy it, unless you don't care about having dust under your glass

Don't buy it, unless you don't care about having dust under your glass, messing up your scans. It was easy to install and use and is slim and takes up little space, but it's fatally flawed by the dust and I'm not the first and only person to complain...

Easy to install and use.

Decent Low-Range Scanner

I bought this scanner because I'm cheap and I didn't want to pay $500 for an HP Photosmart, but I needed to scan negs and slides in addition to prints. I paid around $125, I believe, around mid 2001, at Office Depot for this unit. It was very simple to...

good budget photo scanner

I've been using this scanner for almost a year now to scan photos and I'm very happy with it. It's very solid, competently fast and works flawlessly. It's only drawback is that the glass is dirty underneath, and this seems to be a common problem with...

Nearly Perfect

This scanner is fast and efficient, and won't clutter your already over-crowded desk. Unfortunately, this also means that the scanning area itself is relatively small -- this is fine for uses who work mainly with snapshots and documents, but as a...

Small footprint, easy to use and install, no bugs

Small scanning area, image orientation non-intuitive

Best Bang for the Buck

When I was in the market for a negative scanner, I was astonished at the prices. I went online, and I found just what I was looking for; a flatbed scanner and a negative scanner all in one, at a great price.

Great quality, scans 35mm negatives

Can not scan slides, or other transparancies and film types

Not worth it for film/slides.

Having been promised a Sony DPP-SV55 dye sub photo printer for Christmas (from my girlfriend), I am currently in the market for a film/slide scanner to accompany it. I shoot mainly on color negative film, but I have over a thousand slides taken by my...
