Great product if you need mobility. Otherwise, I would suggest sticking to a flatbed scanner or a multifunction.
Compact, USB powered.
Slow (expected) and not suitable for all media (expected). The bundled software puts itself into the Startup menu every time you run the software, which is annoying. Very few people need loading scanning software at startup.

Portable, quiet and powered by the USB.

If you are someone who works in the field or on the go. I can't imagine anything better.
Small, Good quality print for being USB powered. Fast and very portable.

You have to install the driver from the CD or website, even for Windows 7. You don't have to use the software - Windows Scan & Fax works just fine - but then you have to convert to PDF yourself, if that's what you need.
Very small, USB powered. Very portable. Perfect for quick scans
Has some trouble with pages that were folded (like bills in the mail). You have to help those along to make sure they don't feed sideways

I use this scanner all the time, it is small and light, the software allows to scan multiple documents into one pdf file.
easy to carry, runs on usb power, good document scans, good software. small foot print.
sometimes the usb cable will disconnect even though it is still plugged in.

This is a replacement for a Mustek S40. I couldn't get the Mustek drivers to install on my computer for some reason (I suspect it had something to do with the Mustek requiring two USB ports), so I sent it back and paid the extra cash to get the Brother...
Lightweight, quiet, uses only 1 USB port, does legal size, high quality photo scans.
It's not as fast as the Kodak i750...lol! OK, nothing that I can think of in this price/size range.
