Topfield TRF-7170

Plenty of storage. Interface better than Topfields of yore. Series record works well. Twin tuner set-up.

Some features aren't clearly marked.

The TRF-7170 is a fully featured 1TB twin tuner PVR that does its job — just don't expect any servings of panache.

This model has been Excellent but not sure about their latest boxes

Have been installing these for customers for nearly 4 years, topfield hands down the easiest mots reliable and easiest to use box I have ever dealt with. Have installed some of their most recent boxes however and have no idea why they have decided to...

Constantly missing recordings. Can't get top field on phone. On hold for hours and then they hang up

Top field 7170 is hopeless. And the Customer Helpline never answers even after hours on hold. I will never buy one again. The set recordings don't record about 50% of the time. Rubbish product and waste of time and money. And being on hold dozens of...

Recording and playback no longer reliable

Have had 7100 for 5 years and still running well. Later added 7170 for 1Tb storage. Ran OK for about 2 years but now no longer reliable. Erratic recording of pre-scheduled program as sometimes only records around 25 - 30% of program. On playback,...

Waste of money

Second Topfield I have bought, didn't have any problem getting connected and working well for 2 years then stopped working. Went back to where I have bought it and was told that is probably just how long they work for, bought another one but after 13...

Topfield are easy to use.

e latest model and it sometimes covers some of the new extended warranty. My three and a half year old TRF-7470 1Tb Quad Rec started to make a hell of a racket and sometimes it would only record 800-900mb's but tells you it is 2 1/2hrs long. To cut a...

Not user friendly and stopped working properly after 16 months

Cannot believe the price is so high ($395) for a product of such poor workability. This was a gift that I would not recommend (prefer $347 Panasonic for ease of use and set up). It is worse than a recorder I owned 20 years ago (in terms of technology)....

A puff of smoke and then its curtains.

Worked reliably for a time.. then yesterday... poof... blue smoke pours out of the front and the unit is fried. Think the main circuitry on the front display is toast and the hard-drive smells like charcoal chicken. . . . . . . . . . . . . .
