Consumer review (productreview.com.au)

Bad

Despite all the bad points above I find it a very useful device that is far better than a vcr and if the obvious bugs were fixed would be brilliant.

Good screen resolution, being able to single button record without rewinding or having to check what you may be overwriting The ability to split overnight recordings and discard the unwanted section

Constantly locks up (blue screen) that requires a restart to resolve. Can be caused by recording until no spare disk space left. Sometimes just because it felt like it. Cannot split a recording when no disk space left so you cannot delete 6 hours of...

Excellent

Once you come to terms with the idiosyncracies of the menu and manual, use is quite straight forward. Ultimately the test is the quality of picture, audio(Stereo as only standard def)and recording and these were faultless.

Excellent quality picture. Recording on to HDD easy, quality superb.

Standard definition. Manual needs revision.

Excellent

Now that I have lived with it for 3 months or so, I love it. Goodby VCRs forever! The repaired unit came with upgraded firware that is really good and they have a new manual (written by their Oz. distributors) that actually makes sense!!!! I have it...

Ease of use, good remote, 14 timers, now has 120GB hard drive, time shift, record and playback at same time, connects to PC via SVideo and RCA so you can convert recorded programs to DVD, VCD etc., easy to program (would/will be even easier if/when EPG...

The original Manual - worst EVER written. Total failure of system within a few days (see my earlier review above). Original Firmware not so clever.

Good

I will rate it based on potential and will do a full review when a replacement arrives. If you have reasonable technical skills (I build and repair PCs and Home Theatre in my spare time) this unit should be able to integrate into PCs and AV systems...

Brilliant concept, incredibly easy to program, simple to set up for basic operation though quite fiddly to link into a home theatre system (2 DVDs, VCR, 5.1 AV Rec., TV with 4 scarts). I was able to output the video/audio streams to my PC via S-Video...

The unit folded up and died after 5 days! The manual is probably the worst I have ever encountered - most connections have NO explanations at all and the diagrams are ambiguous. The unit caused a major picture malfunction on my TV - it put a moving and...

Good

Very reliable machine with great timeslipping functions.

The Good: Good Value, Great Picture Quality, Single Tuner, Fantastic User Interface, Simultaneous Play and Record, Edit recordings, EPG.

The Bad: Can't watch a different digital TV channel whilst recording. Can't save digital files to PC or DVD, only analogue to VCRs. No 30Second ad jump button. User guide.
