Consumer review (productreview.com.au)

OK

Overall I'm pleased with it, but you get what you pay for.

It's cheap and very easy to set up - scans through all the channels automatically. I also like the styling.

It's okay for standard definition with a normal television, but if I had a plasma I would want high definition. It also made the screen go red on some channels for some bizarre reason.

Good

This is the first set top box I have had, and is great for home use, and has a very good picture for the price, and it works well with our Loewe TV.

Direct SCART Connection (Which is good for quality because my TV has Scart Inputs. Easy to use, simple remote functions. Great Picture Quality Affordable. Can almost get HDTV Signals, but they are slow and break up easily. Has Teletext Built in....

Overheats. When Turning on sends TV into 16:9 mode Does some crazy things like changing displaying the wrong station. Doesnt respond to remote control commands quickly.

OK

I'm still trying to get it to display S-Video. The menu for selecting the aspect ratio doesn't do anything but the blue button changes the screen type just fine. Not bad for a cheap unit but full video support would be appreciated.

Price, easy to use.

Only one output, can't use S-Video (S-VHS) dispite DSE claiming it supports S-Video.

Bad

Would be a good, effective, cheap unit if the remote worked, which I suppose is just the one I bought, however overall quality control may not be so good since one of the others reviewed here also had to be returned. Also see comments above regarding...

Easy to set up, Good quality picture (but see below) and sound.

Remote control mostly doesn't work and is necessary to set up and operate. It has worked only occasionally and the machine will be going back. Despite claiming a 4:3 setting, choosing this makes no difference and the picture is distorted on a 4:3...

Good

The product lives upto its expectations.

The product is extremely easy to use. Picture quality is good depending on your antenna. Sound quality is good also. It gives you digital quality for a very reasonable price. I am lead to beleive DSE use Panasonic components.

Depending how up to date your video recorder is you may have problems running the DSE STB thru it and recording TV programs.
