Yamaha RX-V775WA AV Receiver

Audio Performance Video Performance Features

“There may be said to be two classes of people in the world; those who constantly divide the people of the world into two classes, and those who do not.” Robert Benchley’s Law of Distinction might also apply to audio/video receivers as they vie for the...

Yamaha RX-V775WA AV Receiver Reviewed

The Yamaha RX-V775WA is an under-$1,000 AV receiver with the chops to compete with entry-level AV preamps in the market, and it packs the latest wireless and other new-school technologies that set it apart from the pack.

The Yamaha RX-V775WA is a great 7.2-channel network receiver that fulfills the promises listed on its spec sheet and hits the sonic mark accurately. If I were looking for a one-box AV solution, I would definitely purchase this receiver. With its...

Worked great for two years

This is definitely a great receiver, similar to the Onkyo I had but with more features, better room calibration, shame it's stuck in protection mode now.

- Great audio quality - Easy setup / calibration - Tons of features / inputs - Lots of updates and services available

- Died on me with the flashing standby light from protection circuitry being triggered. Not sure what triggered it, as the only thing being moved at the time was a fiber optic cable unplugged. - Cannot turn off said protection circuitry without taking...

DO NOT BUY THIS UNIT! FAILURES ABOUND

Bought this about a year ago now from Newegg. I had problems in the beginning with my Sony 4k tv and 4k media player - there was no sound being passed through. Newegg offered a discounted replacement instead of a full replacement. I didn't want to pay...

Works sometimes

HDMI connections become loose, Does not have updated HDMI and will not work with modern 4k equipment without issues (sound)

Don't buy this for 4k. Problems abound

I would love to give this receiver 5 eggs as it handles everything else great. But 4k not so much. I'd steer clear of this one if you are looking for a 4k capable unit. If through my own fault, something is amiss, I will edit this review.

Two eggs cause the unit overall is great for the basic home theater. Plays great. Good GUI as needed

When paired with a brand new sony 65" 4K tv and the Sony 4K media player, that's where the problems arise. To watch the 4k content from the media player with no loss, the media player needs to run an hdmi straight to the tv's hdmi input 4 for video....

Yamaha RX-V775WA 7.2 Channel Network AV Receiver

I have been watching this unit for months waiting for a price drop. Finally saw it as a 24 hour Egg Blast for $449 and rushed to purchase. This is replacing an 8 year old Onkyo 7.1 receiver which has served me well and will power an outdoor patio...

YPAO set up, Zone 2 separate program capability, power pass through, Android A/V controller app, will call pickup

No printed manual, tiny/confusing remote buttons, wonky remote button component assignment, dual banana plug not compatible. Net radio UI awkward. 1000 channels but limited genres

Excellent Network Receiver

Bought this an an upgrade from an Onkyo TX-SR604 - HDMI board failure. What a substantial improvement in sound quality with this Yamaha receiver.

Network capability is great. The android app and web control feature are nice. For home automation, there is an Eventghost plugin on Github that works with this receiver. I use this receiver mainly through Zone 2 for whole house audio distribution.

Not much. You have to remember that hitting the Power Button does not shut off the Zone 2 amplifier, but that is nitpicking.
