Yamaha RX-V377 review

Powerful and punchy surround sound ; Subtle dynamics ; Clear, precise placement

Spring clips and banana plugs for speaker terminals ; No network features

Best home cinema amplifier up to £350, Awards 2014. Superb surround sound on a budget – a contender for a first home cinema system

Yamaha RX-V377 Receiver Preview

Preview: For $300, the Yamaha RX-V377 is quite the AV receiver. It has 4/1 HDMI inputs with ARC, CEC, and 4k/3D pass-through. At 5.1 channels and 70 watts per channel, it has more than enough power.

For $300, the Yamaha RX-V377 is quite the receiver. It has 4/1 HDMI inputs with ARC, CEC, and 4k/3D pass-through. It has two component/three composite video inputs and three digital and four analog audio inputs for legacy gear. At 5.1 channels and 70...

Very Good!

I would like to mirror Bob S's review about the SQ on this unit. I also have Pioneer Andrew Jones speakers on this, models SP-BS41-LR and SP-FS51-LR as Front/Rear respective. This is in my office so the BS41's are on my desk and the FS51's are behind...

Excellent sound ; Flexible inputs ; Functional (not pretty) OSD ; Very good calibration ; Stays very cool

Small remote buttons ; Smallish power supply (not yet a hindrance) ; Too many uncovered buttons on front for my tastes

Doesn't like Comcast

It doesn't have Pandora or any other wireless options. Does have a direct ipod input that is pretty basic but does play and charge with a very generic screen. Also have it hooked up to a Blu Ray and Turntable and those never give me a problem.

Great basic receiver. Sound is very crisp and has a lot of DSP choices. Paired it with a couple Polk tower speakers and the sound for television is scary good. Sometimes it sounds like somebody is in your house

Does not like Comcast box. Running HDMI, you have to turn on the TV and Receiver in exactly the right order or it turns into a green blob screen on the TV. At least once a week I have to turn off the TV, Receiver, and Comcast box and ignore for 20...

Good for the price

I definitely recommend this if you want surround sound and don't want to go all out with an entertainment system.

Good sound. Reliable so far, I leave it on 24/7 with no issues. Handles 4, 6 and 8 ohm speakers well in my experience

No fancy features. The settings menu isn't too friendly, but it works

YAMAHA RX-V377

Generally did what it was supposed to do

After several months had intermittent issues with HDMI output to TV projector. Had to unplug and plug cable back in to restore. Now the video seems to died. Sound still works. Did a lot of trouble shooting and it seems something in the video output...

Bang! for the buck

I bought this thinking I'd just use it in my bedroom since I didn't need a receiver that would drive greedy speakers or fill the room with wall shaking sound. Once I got the unit and experimented with different speakers I was so pleasantly surprised...

Great all around workhorse as a 5.1 Surround Sound receiver. This piece does exactly what it says on the box. The power is clean and I've yet to experience clipping or distortion of any sort introduced by the amplifier section. The controls are good,...

The only part of this receiver that was disappointing was the menu interface. Wow. I think I could have done better back in the day of DOS when graphics truly sucked. It's clunky and has what seems like a strange way to navigate the controls. For a...
