Yamaha RX-V667 review

The RX-V667 is a first-class piece of kit, with a distinctive sonic presentation, but the competition is fierce

Extensive spec, good build and finish ; detailed, atmospheric listen ; fine upscaling

Might seem dispassionate at first ; needs volume to come alive

Impressive across the board

Yamaha RX-V667 review: Yamaha RX-V667

Yamaha RX-V667

Excellent sound quality; six HDMI inputs; best-in-class graphical user interface; analog video upconversion; audio return channel supported; standby pass-through; 7.1 multichannel analog inputs; 3D compatible; second-zone functionality.

Requires $100 dock for iPod/iPhone connectivity; no minijack input; more expensive than some competitors.

Yamaha's RX-V667 is one of the best midrange AV receivers of 2010, with excellent sound quality, a best-in-class user interface, and more connectivity than its competitors, but it may be more AV receiver than you need.

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2 Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver First Look

If you take a closer look at the specifications between the RX-V665 and RX-V667 you will see just how much Yamaha has beefed up the latter and at a very small and worthwhile cost adder to the consumer.

From soup to nuts, we like just about everything we see with the new Yamaha RX-V667 7.2 A/V receiver. I do miss their signature frontpanel orange display found on their older models but that's just a personal preference. Yamaha updated their new 07...

Yamaha RX-V667 7.2 Channel Digital Home Theater Receiver Preview

The RX-V667 is sure to be a hit among budget minded A/V-philes craving legitimately good performance for little out of pocket expense. Discrete amps and 3D processing for under $600. Wow!

Yamaha RX-V667 AV Receiver

Yamaha has made some interesting choices in its new receiver.

Yamaha RXV667 AV Receiver

The sound with music is full and smooth yet detailed. The bass is tight and controlled and treble is just right. The sound with movies is excellent and the surround effects are accurate and precise but also do not stick out i.e. the sound from all the...

LCD display not the most informative. Not easy to know what surround format is being received and decoded. Not much else.

Yamaha RX-V667 AV Receiver

The main reason I bought this amp was to replace my perfectly good Pioneer model, but which had no HDMI inputs. So, ease of connectivity was really the major draw. Performance seems quite good, but really needs a decent volume level to become 'alive'...

I was rather disappointed to discover the manual is on CDRom rather than printed form. Might be OK to look up an individual aspect but really I detest CDRoms and ended up printing it out! These amps are so complex now [if you want to take full...

Yamaha RX-V667 AV Receiver

I had a sony amp before the yamaha and what a difference to the depth of the soundstage, but for me there was one improvement which was night and day ahead of my previous amp and that was the quality of music. I've always been more a movie fan but...

For me i haven't come across any bad points yet.
