Onkyo TX-SR601

Sophisticated sound quality; six 85-watt channels; Dolby EX, DTS ES, and DTS 96/24 surround processing; SACD/DVD-Audio 5.1 inputs; component-video switching; Zone 2 (second room) operation.

The amplifiers generate a fair amount of heat.

Onkyo's engineers squeezed a ton of features into this $500 receiver.

Onkyo TX-SR601 6.1 Home Theater Receiver Review

 

Overall, I was quite impressed with the Onkyo TX-SR601 amplifier section, especially at a $500 retail price point. It has plenty of power, features, and everything else you'll need at this price point

Onkyo TX-SR601

 

Onkyo's engineers squeezed a ton of features into this receiver. It has 85 watts of power and uses Onkyo's 'Wide Range Amplifier Technology' (WRAT) with the latest sound formats like Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES and DTS 96/24.
