Onkyo HT-RC260 review: Onkyo HT-RC260

Onkyo HT-RC260

Great value compared with other midrange receivers; six HDMI inputs; graphical user interface; analog video upconversion; audio return channel supported; 3D compatible; second-zone functionality.

Lackluster sound quality; iPod dock costs $80 extra; does not support standby pass-through.

The Onkyo HT-RC260 offers an extraordinary value for a receiver with six HDMI inputs, although its sound quality isn't what we expect from an Onkyo.

Onkyo HT-RC260 7.2 Channel Home Theater Receiver First Look

Large electronics manufacturers, and Onkyo is no exception, have to deal with a lot of different types of consumers. If they want to be successful, it is all about making sure they are at the very least meeting the expectations of the consumers at each...

For $500 (a full $350 less than the HT-RC270), the Onkyo HT-RC260 packs in a lot of features. What are you missing are a few speaker connection points to make switching configurations easier, an input or two, analogue pre-ins and pre-outs, THX...

EH Buyer's Scorecard: Onkyo HT-RC260 7.2-Channel A/V Receiver

A closer look at the 3D-enhanced super receiver, from in-house and around the web.

While we may define it as an entry-level A/V receiver, the HT-RC260 gives you performance and features that leave class-competitors gasping in its wake. Six of the latest HDMI 1.4a inputs provide easy connection for all your high-def sources and...

"Power/Lots of bang for the buck."

I bought this for $378. , when they were starting to be phased out about three years ago or so. At the time I had misgivings about spending more, but now looking back I'm satisfied with It. I don't want to take away from the reviewers as they have way...

You would have to pay a lot more to get more power than this.

Awesome

Had an onkyo 506 that i wanted to upgrade and got a Samsung from BB. It was a hard fail, with over rated specs and poor features, ordered this and returned the samsung when it arrived.

This thing destroys my 506 in audio quality/heat/features

Took forever to get to me...ups dang you

I've been very happy with this receiver. It has a very good feature set and the price is terrific. I read some reviews online where it was stated that the sound quality was not as good as the competition, but I have to say that I've been very...

If you just bought this through the Egg as I did, call Customer Service and see what they can do. I inquired about a price match and even though they couldnt' match it they did give me a $25 credit. In all I'm out about $40...I suggest you all do the...

Let me start out saying that I am very pleased with this purchase. It puts out more than enough power to the Polk Monitor 70s I purchased with it, and should be more than capable of handling (eventually) a completed 5.1 setup. All of the HDMI inputs...

Really only two cons so far. One is that it doesn't want to recognize by BD550 LG BD player as well as my Scientific Atlanta cable box on the remote (I didn't mess with it too long after the initial attempts failed, maybe I'll still get it working)....

Great! This is definitely worth it.

Heat is an issue, only if you stack this up with other stuff like the cablebox/dvr or other players... come..on folks... something that can outputs ~600W total (5+1 X100W).. Don't you think that would waste abt 100W in heat with all those transformers...

Got this nearly free in a combo deal with Klipsch 500 home theater set. They pair very nicely. Haven't heard such good sound my entire life... For those having trouble with HDMI pass thru, you need a compatible cable. Not all HDMI cables are created...

Cant think of any... The lamest reason I can give is It's a big manual for a newbie... lots of options to tweak.. So, currently using the dynamic equilizer 2EQ... which sets up all the speakers automatically using a mic

liking it

Have always gone with Onkyo, and for the price, I havent been able to find or read about better and I have done my homework before purchasing.

Like it very much. I bought a whole new Polk setup, 50s in the front, center and back satellites for a small bedroom. I had them on an old Yamaha receiver and the sound is definitely crisper. A bunch more options and customization. The unit comes with...

Does run very hot as have the 3 other Onkyo receivers I have owned. For smaller rooms, with a computer, turn the AC up
