The Harman Kardon AVR 247 is an authoritative piece of equipment with a smattering of usable features. It's a challenger for best receiver in its price range.

Excellent home theatre sound ; Strong musical ability ; Easy to use and setup ; Video upscaling

Annoying remote ; Lacks Blu-ray decoding ; iPod dock not included

The HK AVR 247 also offers upsampling of music and when engaged it seemed to physically shift the sound upwards in the listening plane. It offers a fatter midrange overall and a tighter bass. Music listeners may want to leave this on all the time as...

My first one stopped working and would not power on. Sent it back and about 6 months later a new problem No sound out put...Bummer

I am on my second one, and it just went up. Issues with the HDMI failing on both, as well as having to constantly restart it due to freezing.

Looks nice, but what are looks if it doesnt work

While aesthetically pleasing, this AVR has a few hang ups that are annoying enough that I am seriously thinking of returning it.

Great style... modern look ; Speaker set up process is easy (microphone included)

Tends to get stuck in a particular surround mode and has to be restarted (turned fully off and on) to get unstuck. Very frustrating ; Remote is beyond annoying... its a pain in the butt
