Harman Kardon AVR 154 AV Receiver Reviewed

Despite the fact that it costs just $350, our reviewer found the AVR 154 "shockingly musical and dynamic, making it suitable for a wide variety of source material." He also noted it "sounds much better and far more robust than it should." It also had...

The AVR 154's stunning good looks and ease of use fly in the face of its low asking price.• For $350, the AVR 154 sounds much better and far more robust than it should, especially when you consider its meager power rating ; The AVR 154 is shockingly...

With 30 watts on tap, the AVR 154 may be a bit underpowered when it comes to larger speakers and/or large rooms. Efficient speakers or smaller spaces are the natural stomping grounds for the AVR 154 ; I would love to see at least one more HDMI input on...

For $350 retail, you're getting a fair amount in terms of performance and features when it comes to the AVR 154. Does it have all the bells and whistles of its big brother or costlier receivers? No. But for a budding enthusiast or someone looking to...

Do some research first...

Do some research about these things before just posting a review. In Dolby 5.1 surround, the subwoofer is always self-powered; this is part of the Dolby Digital spec. So, naturally, the subwoofer output is going to be preamp level, as there is no...

HDMI pass through, high current amp design makes this amp able to handle transients better than most others. Gorgeous front panel

Price/performance ratio is a bit less than other manufacturers. HK has always cost a bit more than competitors

Great reciever!

I dont know what the other guy is saying about no woofer input but it clearly has an input that says "woofer" on the back left of the reciever ; Just plug and play with that. The sounds is clean and so far no overheating from the av. The reciever has a...

No HDMI?

Woofer has output is RCA plug that says "preamp" while all other speakers have bare wire screw-downs. I bough this unit to handle all speakers, I had better be able to play a dang woofer.

Pretty - hope I can get it to work

Had to come back here to buy AV cables, doesn't work with HDMI cables alone, even says so in the manual. Don't see the point in having HDMI inputs and outputs if you still have to use other cables

My first entry level receiver is a home run!

This was my first purchase into the entry level home theater realm. Before this unit, I have an LG home-theater-in-a-box and for the most part I thought I was a rock star. Boy, was I wrong!

Great sound, lots of connection, lots of sound converters

No HDMI switching
