Denon AVR-2807

Denon's AVR-2801 is a reasonably priced midrange receiver with a decent specification and flexible functions but the insightful sound isn't as energetic as some of its rivals.

Solid build quality; advanced auto calibration; iPod compatibility; detailed, articulate sound

Protracted set up; no high-definition upscaling; restrained dynamics and impact

Denon AVR-2807

With its higher price, Denon's AVR-2807 is a sophisticated model, with a powerful seven-channel amplifier capable of delivering an impressive 110W to each channel.

Impressive features, Great value, Decent sound, Features, Sound

Not particularly stylish, Price

The AVR-2807 ticks an incredible number of boxes and makes an extremely powerful hub for any entertainment system.

Denon AVR-2807

The Denon AVR-2807 is a full-featured 7.1-channel receiver highlighted by its ability to switch between two HDMI sources and convert analog video inputs to 480p HDMI output. It also offers advanced autosetup capabilities and compatibility with Denon's...

The Denon AVR-2807 has only two HDMI inputs, its built-in XM radio function won't play the new XM HD Surround stations, and the XM and iPod functions require additional accessories.

The Denon AVR-2807's keen balance of superb sound, gotta-have HDMI features, and an affordable price put it in the sweet spot in the company's line.

The Denon AVR-2807's keen balance of superb sound, gotta-have HDMI features, and an affordable price put it in the sweet spot in the company's line.

Full-featured 7.1-channel receiver ; Two switchable HDMI sources ; Converts analog video inputs to HDMI output ; Advanced autosetup capabilities ; Compatibility with Denon's optional iPod dock

Only two HDMI inputs ; iPod function requires additional accessories

No, the AVR-2807 can't decode the brand-new Dolby Digital Plus, Dolby TrueHD, and DTS-HD audio codecs--we won't see such receivers for a while yet--but it's easily one of the most futureproof receivers on the market right now.

Denon AVR-2807

This Denon A/V receiver variant offers an attractive mix of features such as iPod compatibility, and power. But in a converging world, is that enough? SmartHouse investigates the AVR-2807.

Many of the features are iPod compatible

Complicated interface ; no THX ; no network functionality
