The Sony VPL-EX4 Data Projector is priced on par for what it delivers. Designed for class rooms and small organisations, it has some standout features like password protection, panel key lock, low fan noise and a short-throw lense. however the absence...

Good resolution and brightness, Security functions prevent unauthorised access, Low fan noise and well placed exhaust

Sony VPLEX4 projector

The Sony VPLEX4 projector is the entry level XGA unit in the sony business range. The EX4 offers an XGA resolution 2200 lumen brightness (fine for an artificially lit room) and a fairly portable 2.9kg. First thing we noticed from the EX4 when testing...

Bottom line the unit is fine for powerpoint and other basic presentations but for detailed images and video requiring much higher contrast we'd recommend going the DLP route. Also we found the price to be a bit more than most units in the same class...

Sony VPL EX4

It does what it claims to do. I needed a portable projector to take to different venues. It had to project photographs so it needed to be XGA but it needed to be cheap because frequency of use didn't warrant high expenditure. It is pretty much plug and...

Taking the projector to other venues does not allow me as much freedom to select the placement of the projector in relation to the screen so I find the 1.2x zoom lens is rather restrictive.

Sony VPL EX4

Easy to set up... virtually plug in and go. Quiet when in use. For medium sized classroom light brightness is fine; I have yet to use the higher bulb rating. The bulb is guaranteed for nine months (so I was led to believe).

The amp speaker in the projector seem little better that what my laptop creates. If sound is important I think you would require a seperate audio system.
