Philips DTR7200

Philips' DTR7200 HD Set Top Box is a very good choice for standard definition viewing. If only there was some worthwhile HD content out there to watch on it...

HDMI output ; Pulse Killing shielded output ; Simple menu structures ; Good picture quality

HD broadcasts are still relatively rare ; 7 day EPG can't fill up

There's a more pressing problem with the DTR7200, however. It's no fault of the technology itself, but at the current time there's precious little HD content actually being broadcast at the moment -- especially if you're not a big fan of American legal...

Totally unreliable as a tuner.

Works for you if you don't want to hear the audio on Ten & 9

Already tried one revision and still waiting for a cure

Philips DTR7200

Bought this set top box with Philips Cineos LCD with 3 PixlPlus feature. Excellent setup when you got the same brand of bits!

Self tuning easy as. Menu easy. Favourites good idea but we lack many HD channels. HD is picture perfect as in photo and many friends comment on it when visiting. All HDMI connections with optical sound connections to HiFi. Stuff all wires

At the time of purchase no HDMI settop box with hard drive (want one now & it appears they come in DVR with twin tuners ie Il'll have 3 tuners!). Thanks for other comments about firmware because we have infrequent sound dropout too & local Philips...

This will not work with the Joytech HDMI Trilink Switchbox!

W/o Joytech HDMi Trilink Switchbox, it's perfect

With Joytech HDMI Trilink Switchbox, there is no sound unless you needlessly fiddle with the plugs. UNACCEPTABLE

A very good unit.

Great Picture Quality. Very quick in changing channels. I was never troubled by audio dropouts on HD channels when connected via HDMI

Nothing in particular

Philips DTR7200

Good looking compact unit which is easy to set up - with one serious short-coming. Good picture quality and sound.

Neat and compact with very good picture

Dreadful user manual which has been very poorly translated into English. Use of HDMI cable causes loss of picture until initial reprogramming as per instruction sheet is performed
