Optoma ThemeScene HD33

With a price tag of just £1,249, the ThemeScene HD33 is far and away the cheapest active, full HD projector ever. Surely it can't also be any good, right?

Startlingly good 3D performance ; 3D glasses work very effectively ; Unbelievably cheap

Contrast not great with 2D ; Minor rainbow effect ; No vertical image shift

Optoma HD33 review

One of the best performance-per-pound 3D projectors we've seen

Affordable 3D ; easy to set up ; comfortable glasses, great 3D image ; clean, colourful picture

The best budget 2D projectors pip it for performance

This Optoma is one of the best performance-per-pound 3D products around

Optoma HD33 review

Don't be surprised if you're told you'll have to go on a waiting list to get an Optoma HD33. According to a little birdie in the trade, demand for this model is outstripping supply across Europe – and having now lived with one for a few weeks, I'm not...

Sharp HD; negligible DLP ‘rainbow’ colour fringing; keystone correction; effective 3D presentation

No onboard audio system; a little noisy; not too bright

Review: Optoma HD33

Optoma's new 3-D projector brings 1080p 3-D into your living room for a 2-D price.

Half the price of most competing 3-D projectors. Superb picture quality, especially in 3-D. 3-D glasses fit comfortably, even over regular glasses

No 3-D specs included in the box. A bit noisy, especially when switching display modes. Backlit remote is actually too bright to use in a dark room

Optoma HD33

The Optoma HD33 offers 3D images at 1080p with image quality that's easily suitable for a home theater.

Breakthrough price for 1080p 3D. No video converter needed for 3D with Blu-ray players, cable TV boxes, and the equivalent.

Rainbow effect shows just often enough to keep it from being an extraordinary choice.

Optoma HD33 3D Projector Video Review

A couple years ago, Optoma redefined the projector market by introducing a 1080p model for under $1000. That was unheard of. What's equally unheard of is a 3D projector under $3000 - except that Optoma has now broken down that barrier again, too. And...

Optoma HD33 3D Projector Review

The Optoma HD33 projector is the company's foray into budget 1080p projectors. What's equally unheard of is a 3D projector under $3000 - except that now, Optoma has broken down that barrier too.

Optoma HD33 3D DLP Projector

They just don’t immerse the viewer the way a projector does. I’ve found for the 3D effect to be truly convincing, the edges of the screen have to be outside my peripheral vision. Front projection is, of course, the answer; but 3D capable models are...

Optoma HD33 3D DLP Video Projector - Product Review

Setting up and using the HD33 was fairly easy. The input connections are clearly labeled and spaced out, and the remote control is easy to use. However, the HD33 does not offer power zoom or focus controls. With 1,800 maximum lumens output capability,...
