Mitsubishi HC4900

Mitsubishi's HC4900 home theatre projector is one of the cheapest 1080p-capable units on the market today, coming in at under $4000. While it doesn't ...

Well-priced, high quality image, varied mounting options

Low brightness level, cheap plastic design

The HC4900 has lowered the entry-level price point for 1080p projectors. With good image quality and a large range of colour and image customisation options, it's very good value for money. Apart from its simplistic black plastic design and low...

Mitsubishi HC4900

Mitsubishi pushes the entry level price point of 1080p projectors even lower with the HC4900. It's a very solid contender that's made all the more appealing by its asking price.

Inexpensive ; Good quality projection

Ordinary looking design ; Low brightness

It's great to see a downwards trend in the price of 1080p projectors; at the time of writing it was possible with a little online snooping to score the HC4900 for nearly a thousand dollars less than the RRP. Similar units such as Sanyo's PLV-Z2000 and...

Mitsubishi HC4900

A third technical difference between the two models is that the HC5000 (now discontinued) was rated at 10,000:1 contrast, whereas the HC4900 is rated at 7500:1. However, we don't see a significant difference between the two in actual contrast...

Mitsubishi HC4900

Of note, the HC4900 is a 3LCD projector. It uses a dynamic iris to enhance black levels, and there are four modes - Iris open, and Auto Iris 1, 2, and 3. I worked almost exclusively with Open, and Auto Iris 1

Superb sharpness ; Quietest home theater projector we have ever seen (or heard) ; Better than average brightness in "best" mode (Cinema) ; Average brightness in "brightest" mode ; After minor "tweaking" produces an extremely watchable image, overall,...

Black levels are very so-so, better than a typical DLP with Darkchip2, but not up to the HC5000, or most of the other 1080p competition ; HDMI 1.2, not 1.3 (only a couple of projectors with 1.3 are currently shipping as of this writing) ; Pixel...

That said, life would have been better still, if Mitsubishi didn't build the HC4900, and instead brought the HC5000 within a few hundred of the HC4900's price. Of course, life isn't normally that convenient

Mitsubishi HC4900 Full Definition Home theatre projector

Mitsubishi making an LCD projector was quite a surprise as they are mostly known for their work on DLP models. This HC4900 features the full definition 1080p resolution as native and with that amount of detail this projector will give you one of the...

All in all taking the price into consideration it is a very good unit. The price is a stand out retailing below $4k and offers a good little package with a great picture.

Mitsubishi HC4900

Great projector for Bluray movies and games

Great colour and perfect brightness on a glass beaded screen ; Accurate focus and stunning picture on a 106" (2.6metre) screen ; Completely silent ; Lens Adjustment (vertical/horizontal)

Blacks could be a little blacker ; Lacks keystone correction so you can't mount it to the roof, your head is always in the way while playing games ; Lacks picture rotation which is useful is the unit is portable, but has adjustable feet

Genuine Lamp for Mitsubishi

I went through many web sites and did lots of research to determine whether to buy generic or genuine lamp. This is a genuine projector lamp for Mitsubishi although not made by Mitsubishi.

Genuine Projector Lamp for Mitsubishi and Very Easy to Install

Price is little high, but didn't want to take a chance on an inferior Replacement Lamp
