BenQ W600 DLP Projector

The BenQ W600 DLP projector can produce an eye-catching performance; in a good and not so good way.

BenQ W600 review

A good value, feature-rich home cinema projector for casual use

Incredibly cheap ; Really bright ; Colourful pictures ; Well featured

Sometimes very obvious rainbow effect ; Unsubtle colours

Although its rainbow effect problem makes the W600 a no-no for serious users, its brightness and affordability should ensure it finds an audience

For instance, underneath the W600's rather business-like and cheap exterior resides a startlingly effective set of specifications. For as well as the key 1280x720 HD resolution, the projector also boasts a huge brightness output of 2600 ANSI Lumens,...

Remarkably cheap given its spec level, bright and colourful pictures, decent sharpness, solid black levels

Sometimes quite overt dot crawl noise and DLP rainbow effect

It also has presentation features like image blanking and freezing, password protection, projection surface color choices, a presentation timer and a built-in 2-watt speaker. It also has features tailored for home video use, like full color management,...

Very good brightness, even in Cinema mode ; Solid color rendition and excellent readability with native resolution or higher ; Very good video reproduction

Mediocre warranty ; Limited zoom range ; Built-in two-watt speaker not usable in all but the quietest locations ; No network display capability or wireless networking

Compared with the similarly priced Dell 1610HD (also a widescreen DLP projector), the W600 offers more for the home video viewer, but doesn?t reach the brightness level of the Dell, which might be a more important concern for the business user. With...

While the main focus of this review was to look at the W600 as a multimedia projector, its self-classification as a home entertainment projector also required us to look at it from that aspect as well.  The excellent brightness and the ability to adapt...

BenQ W600 Review

For those who just want to put a bright, high-contrast, high-definition picture on the screen, the W600 is another solid option.

The BenQ W600 is not a bad projector--far from it. It is exceptionally bright, and its brilliant, high-contrast image is a great fit for projection in ambient light. However, when it comes to viewing high-definition movies in a darkened room, it cannot...

Worth it!

Operating projector at 5600ft on low altitude mode, and have not detected any problems after 1000+ hours. All DLP based projectors may produce "rainbow effect" depending on viewers perception.

Met expectations precisely. Very efficient for the price

Fan exeeds 70dB in high altitude mode
