BenQ W1070

A full HD projector for £700 that amazingly doesn't suck for movies

Amazingly cheap ; Good 2D and 3D picture quality ; Vertical image shift

No backlight on remote ; Pictures look a touch noisy ; Very limited optical zoom

Once we'd managed to work round its setup limitations and figured out how to avoid a couple of initial picture niggles, we were left with pictures from the BenQ W1070 that comfortably surpassed our expectations, making it just the latest entry on a...

BenQ W1070+ projector review

A bargain Full HD beamer for your home cinema

Colour & contrast ; Clean, detailed Full HD ; Bright enough for daylight ; Built-in speakers ; Red backlit remote

Judder ; Lacks convenient lens shift ; 3D specs cost extra ; Wireless kit costs extra

This bright, compact, and cute DLP projector uses its Full HD resolution well in a great value performance that even includes a backlit remote for blackout viewing. 3D and wireless HD cost extra.

BenQ W1070 review

The BenQ W1070 1080P projector is an all-round entertainer

Outstanding value ; Massive 1080p images ; Brighter than Brian Cox

No 3D glasses provided ; Fan noise is high ; Not the deepest blacks

BenQ W1070

The sharp and clear picture impresses, but lack of subtlety in dark scenes and motion issues hamper this budget offering

Clear, bright images ; Compact ; Good contrast levels with deep blacks and punchy whites

Takes time to set up ; lacks subtlety with dark scenes ; Motion could be better ; 3D glasses extra

BenQ W1070 review

The BenQ W1070 wears its chief attraction right out there on its price tag. For despite being a 3D-capable projector claiming decent-looking contrast ratio and brightness figures of 10,000:1 and 2,000 ANSI Lumens respectively, it costs a penny under...

Exceptional value; strong out of the box picture performance; ISF certified

Pictures are a touch noisy; dark 3D scenes lack a little depth; no 3D glasses included for free

BenQ W1070 review

With images better suited to home cinema than PC output, the BenQ W1070 is a very well priced model that looks great and works well. You'll need to spend some time grappling with its controls, and we'd recommend using SmartEco on a regular basis. For...

BenQ W1070 projector throws impressive pictures for a small price tag

If you want a big image for little money then few come close to what the BenQ W1070 projector can offer.

The ; offers very good picture quality for the price, including respectable black levels and excellent color accuracy. 3D playback is excellent.

No 3D glasses are included, and they cost $99 each. Low-level shadow detail is crushed. With the 3D upgrades, the Epson 3020 could be a better option.

If you want a huge, good-looking image for a little money, few come close to the BenQ W1070 projector.

BenQ W1070

The BenQ W1070 3D home entertainment projector is bright enough to stand up to the typical light in a family room.

Inexpensive. Works directly with HDMI 1.4a devices like Blu-ray players and cable TV for full 1080p 3D. Built-in speaker.

Shows rainbow artifacts unusually often. Doesn't work with 120Hz DLP-link glasses for 3D; works with 144Hz glasses only.

Anyone who sees rainbow artifacts easily, or worries that someone else may be bothered by them, is well advised to stay away from the BenQ W1070 and focus on LCD projectors, like the 2D Epson PowerLite Home Cinema 8350 or the more expensive 3D Editors'...
