BenQ PE8720 720p DLP Projector

BenQ's PE8720 has been on the market for some time. And at an MSRP of $6,999, it's perilously close to (or even above) the prices of some of the new 1080p models. But we've seen it priced as low as $4,000 online.

BenQ PE8720 720p DLP Projector

With all the hullabaloo about the new 1080p projectors, some of them at prices lower than any of us dreamed possible only a few months ago, is there any point in reviewing a mid-priced 720p design? BenQ's PE8720 has been on the market for some time....

Bright, sharp image with realistic detail Motorized zoom, focus, and lens shift Good performance on both standard and high-definition

BenQ PE8720

For those of you who haven't read the full projector review, the BenQ PE8720 home theater projector is "powered" by TI's DarkChip 3 DLP. The projector retails for $7999, is rated 1000 lumens, and claims an impressive contrast ratio of 10,000:1. In...

Extremely Sharp image ; Vibrant colors (good color saturation) ; Bright enough for larger screens ; Excellent reproduction of flesh tones ; Extremely good verall color accuracy (out of the box!) ; Truly excellent black levels ; Lots of image control ;...

Overly large projector ; Would have liked to see a 2nd HDMI input ; Manual - has what you need for setup, but doesn't explain well many advanced features, and when some of those features, are available, and when they are not ; Lens shift (yes it has...

If you are torn between those under $5000 projectors available online, and the $10,000+ models available only through local dealers, this new home theater projector from BenQ appears to deliver that $10K+ performance at a definitely more affordable price
