Acer H6500

The Acer H6500 home theater projector delivers full 1080p resolution and a reasonably high-quality video image.

Inexpensive. Native 1080p resolution. Reasonably high quality image. Two HDMI ports.

No 3D support. No speaker. No audio output.

Acer H6500 DLP Projector Video Review

I'm always keeping my eyes on inexpensive 1080p projectors. Why? Because it seems like my friends are constantly asking me about the best display they can buy for their money. And honestly, if you can accommodate it, I believe the answer is a front...

Acer H6500 DLP Projector Review

The Acer H6500 DLP projector is a 1080p DLP projector with 2100 lumens and it only costs $899. Given that you can pick up a starter screen for around $300, or even roll your own, that's amazing.

Acer H6500

Interestingly, this Acer H6500 projector claims 10,000: 1 contrast. It does this without using a dynamic iris, rather it uses the latest lamp dimming technologies. This technique, by the way, is far from new. Sanyo was one home theater projector...

About as bright (measured over 2100 lumens at max) as under $1000 home projectors get it can handle a good amount of ambient light ; Reasonably good color, right out of the box ; Presentation mode offers over 1700 lumens with reasonably good color ;...

Tendency to lose signal, during menu options changes, changing sources... - can be very annoying ; Lacks a full color managemetn system for fine tuning the color (there are some controls) ; Remote control is not backlit ; Lacks CFI for smooth motion...

Ultimately the Acer is a nice "little" projector. It has the basics one would expect in an entry level home projector. It's best in a family room / living room / spare bedroom / bonus room - where you have some lighting control, but it is bright enough...

Acer H6500

- Great image quality (resolution, contrast and brightness) - Compact and lightweight - A large variety of different ports to hook the projector up (including 2 HDMI ports) - Easy to use manual zoom and focus - Very responsive and useful remote and...

- On darker images, you can sometimes notice small red dots (like a kind of static). I'm not sure if this is a defect on just my projector but either way this is not noticeable on more colourful images. - Can make a fair amount of noise (the cooling...

Acer H6500

Projects at an upward angle, I recommend that if you are going to mount it high, definitely go with a ceiling mount.

Image quality is great, have it projected against a painted screen that gives me minimal glare even with daylight in the windows. As good of a picture as my 1080p hdtv

Wish it had other projection angles

Perfect!

Hooked up to Sony BD player with a 35ft hdmi cable. Works perfectly. Running under eco mode. Very bright for such a small foot print. Previously had a Sanyo plv-z2, but the h6500 beats in all aspectts. The fan noise level is moderate in eco mode. There...

Nice picture, loud fan

If you're going for a low-priced projector with good contrast and brightness for a home theater and fan noise & lack of speakers/audio out aren't a problem, this is definitely a very good option. However, if you are looking for something portable, the...

This projector was purchased to use in a walk-out basement with a 12 foot wide glass sliding door that had direct afternoon sunlight shining in. Despite this, it was plenty bright enough to see the image on the wall opposite said door. The "eco" mode...

The small size has a downside - the fan is a bit louder than others in this price range & it has a pitch that I found annoying. This could be a problem if mounting it close to the sitting area. The so-called "10,000:1" contrast ratio is accomplished by...
