If A3 colour printing is a requirement this OKI will probably be on your shortlist. We see if it makes the grade.

With a four figure price tag and A3 as well as A4 output, the Oki C8800n is in a different league to the other models here. At 40kg - which is heavy enough to need two people to carry it - it stretches the definition of a home printer to the limit.

The OKI Printing Solutions C8800n offers color tabloid-size printing at a (relatively) affordable price.
Prints on tabloid (11 by 17 inches) and banner-size paper up to 11.6 by 47.2 inches. Low price for a tabloid-size color laser.
Slow. Relatively low text quality for a laser.

Very fast ; wide-format capability ; Low cost per page
Very expensive ; design can be confusing ; Documentation lacks thoroughness
The C8800n's separate toner supplies and imaging drums help a little with the cost per page. The starter-size toner supplies have 2000-page lives. Replacement supplies have 6000-page lives yielding costs per page of 1.2 cents for black and 1.8 cents...

Working with it for some years now, quite reliable and seems to be cost-effective
