Konica Minolta Magicolor 2550 colour laser printer

The Konica Minolta Magicolor 2550 boasts Emperon technology, Simitri polymerised toner and Enhanced Image Density Control. But if the Konica Minolta Magicolor 2550 is heavy on buzzwords - Emperon is simply a marketing term for Konica's own-brand...

In spite of the corporate edge, the overall verdict on the Konica Minolta Magicolor 2550 has to be that it doesn't stand out from the competition.

Konica Minolta - 2450

Konica Minolta's 2450 is a contender in the mid-range colour laser printer market. While it's not particularly quick, print quality is good and running costs are about average. We'd like to see a backlight to its status display and a multi-purpose feed...

Konica Minolta MagiColor 2450

Smooth gradients in grayscale

Poor text printing, low quality colour printing, Too expensive

Konica Minolta magicolor 2550 Laser Printer (20 PPM, 9600x600 DPI, Color, 128MB, PC/Mac)

The $499 (as of March 7, 2007) Konica Minolta Magicolor 2550EN costs $100 more than the company's similar-looking 2530DL. Both color lasers have built-in networking but the 2550EN supports both PCL and PostScript protocols internally, whereas the...

Low per-page costs ; Small footprint

Low standard paper capacity ; Slow photo printing

Considering its disappointing print quality and performance, there are better choices than the Magicolor 2550EN.

Konica Minolta Magicolor 2450 Printer

This $699 Konica Minolta MagiColor 2450 printer offers little to justify the extra cost over the almost identical-looking Konica Minolta MagiColor 2430DL and similar Xerox Phaser 6120n, both of which cost about $200 less.

Front USB port

Graphics printing is slow ; Text output was heavy and fuzzy

Like the 2430DL, the 2450 has a front USB port, though it doesn't do anything--yet. Konica Minolta says it will soon release a free firmware upgrade that will enable printing from PictBridge-compatible digital cameras

Konica Minolta magicolor 2450

By today's standards, the Konica Minolta magicolor 2450 ($699 direct) is near the high end of the price range for a personal color laser. And with an engine rating of 20 pages per minute (ppm) for monochrome and 5 ppm for color, it obviously doesn't...

Top-tier text and photo quality for a color laser. Better than most for graphics. Ethernet connector standard

Relatively slow for color printing, at 5 pages per minute (ppm), despite the 20-ppm rating for monochrome

The Konica Minolta magicolor 2450 puts the emphasis on output quality. It does well on text and graphics and earns a very good rating for photos, as some output is true photo quality. But all that comes at a relatively slow speed.

Konica Minolta Magicolor 2450

The latest Magicolor printer from Konica Minolta has everything you could want in a sub-$1,000 color laser printer-including PostScript Level 3.

Accurate color ; PictBridge camera port ; PostScript 3

Noisy ; doesn't support Apple's Bonjour

Initial setup of the printer was a piece of cake. Its four toner cartridges come pre-installed and its compact size doesn't take up too much desk space
