The Magicolor 5440 DL is a colour laser aimed at the small workgroup environment. With its balance of quality and speed, this could be the colour laser printer you're looking for.
The Magicolor 5440 DL is on the large side and time consuming to unpack and expensive, but you'll quickly forgive it these facts thanks to its high quality output and decent turn of speed. If you're in the market for a colour laser for a small office,...

The MagiColor 5440DL holds plenty of paper and prints good text, but it came up short on speed and image printing.

Low per-page costs ; Superb text prints
Sluggish print speeds
Good text printing, low per-page costs, and a large main paper tray. PictBridge option is expensive, but may appeal to some.

Like many of the color laser models we've seen, the $999 Konica Minolta MagiColor 5430DL is bulky and cubical in shape. Unlike most of its competitors at this price, this model relies on your PC's CPU to render the pages.
Text prints looked sharp and well formed
Slow text output speed ; Mediocre color printing
Despite the 5430DL's being a host-based printer, installing it on our network at the PC World Test Center was easy enough. You can tie it to a single PC through its USB 2.0 port, as well. The installation guide and general-information guide are printed...

WHAT'S HOT: The 2300 DeskLaser costs a mere $799--less than half the price of the next-cheapest recent color laser--so even individual buyers may find it affordable. But don't assume that a low price means a poor printer. The 2300DL gave us solid black...
Even individuals can afford the 2300 DeskLaser--but it's enough printer to support a small workgroup.

The 2300 DeskLaser is the least-expensive color laser printer we've ever tested, but it's surprisingly capable.

Inexpensive enough for a solo graphic designer working from home, but equipped well enough for any office workgroup.

For starters, the Minolta-QMS magicolor 2300DL is $200 less than the HP model, and it includes an Ethernet connection. Yet the 2300DL manages to provide slightly better performance and output quality. It also offers easier printer control, thanks to an...

If you're familiar with the Konica Minolta magicolor 5430 DL, you know it can serve as a high-end personal color laser. And the first thing you need to know about the magicolor 5440 DL ($1,300 street) is that it's not some minor upgrade to the 5430, as...
Fast performance. Quality is among the best for text and photos (for a color laser). Ample 600-sheet paper capacity, expandable to 1,600 sheets
Graphics quality is only middling for color lasers. The optional duplexer raises the price by nearly a third
The Konica Minolta magicolor 5440 DL is a potential workhorse printer for a small office or workgroup, with a default 600-sheet paper capacity, a maximum of 1,600 sheets, and an optional duplexer. It also offers fast performance, top color-laser...
