The Form 2 is a 3D printer of the SLA (stereolithography) variety, as opposed to the more common FDM (fused deposition modelling) type. So instead of squirting out hot plastic to form a print, it uses lasers to harden the print from a pool of liquid...
Unsurpassed print quality ; Slick touchscreen operation ; Quiet ; Wireless print uploading
Still messier than FDM printing ; High ongoing costs
Not at all cheap to run, but the Form 2 is capable of the best print quality you can get from a desktop 3D printer.

Exceptional quality desktop 3D printing
High quality prints ; Practical resins ; Easy to extract models
Printing times are slow ; Messy when cleaning up prints ; Expensive compared with FFM printers
The Form 2 stands alone both in terms of price and ability. Print quality and resin mean that you can build almost anything but the price and SLA technology will not suit everyone.

You want a great 3D printer? First off, make sure you have a good specific reason for one, like the need to make something that you can't buy. Secondly, be prepared to spend a lot of cash.
The Formlabs Form 2 3D Printer delivers consistently reliable performance and can produce extremely detailed and complex 3D objects. The printer supports both USB and network printing.
The printer and materials are very expensive. It performs rather slowly, and its printed objects require cleaning or will remain sticky for weeks.
Incredibly expensive, the Formlabs Form 2 3D Printer is only worth the investment for those with very specific needs and deep pockets.

The user-friendly Form 2 3D printer is miles ahead of the competition.
Superior print performance ; Extremely user-friendly features ; Simple yet powerful software ; Wide variety of materials ; Large print capacity
Expensive ; Resin is messy
The Form 1 made the case for at-home SLA 3D printing, and the better-in-every-way Form 2 is driving it home.

The Form 2 offers magnificent print quality, a good selection of resins, and an improved user experience over the previous generation of Formlabs 3D printers.

The Form 2 is an excellent 3D printer that can produce high-quality prints with very clean, sharp edges and fine reproduction of subtle details. Although the clear material we used in testing is quite soft, we were able to easily assemble our set of...
Excellent print quality ; Good selection of print materials including support for third-party resins ; Simple-to-use software ; Very adaptable for multiple users
Both printer and resin are expensive ; Testing produced occasional print failures with large prints
The Form 2 is an excellent, but expensive SLA printer that produces very high-quality prints.
