Another view on reception

While it may be true about all radios lacking separate antenna (the Sony like many others uses the headphone wire as an antenna) I found reception on this unit poor. While working out I could not receive static free broadcasts of the television...

I have 5 portable FM radios, and this is the best one yet

I just realized that I'm a portable FM radio collector. I own six now: the Sony SRF-34W, Sony SRF-37V, Sony D24T AM/FM Discman, the MPIO FL100 mp3/fm player and the Sony SRF-78, the subject of this review. The combination of great sound quality and...

Best reception of any radio tested so far, very good sound quality

It's YELLOW! The volume knob moves to easily. Only 5 FM presets

An underperforming radio, not worth the high price.

This radio is part of Sony's "sports" branding, with yellow case and headphones. The case is ergonomic and comfortable in your hand. The digital display features a clock, although you can't see what time it is while the radio is ON (only when OFF).

Good for gym or running, clock

Horrible reception, analog dial for volume

Bought a refurbished unit from Overstock.com for around $40. Very good product for the price. Cheap non-digital tuner in some mini radios soon lose the tension in the internal cord connecting the tuning knob to the tuner making tuning difficult and...

Long battery life. digital tuning, low cost refurbished units

Go digital tuning for good reception!

I work out both outside and at the gym. I have discovered two important things about personal audio while being active; The first is that am/fm/cassette players are just to heavy. The second is that tuning and reception are critical.

Great for runners

The M78 is a great radio. It has great reception, pretty good battery life, and is perfectly set up for people that use it while they run. I'm a runner. The only time I use a radio is when I'm running, as a 3 or 4 hour run requires a little background...
