A ciggie lighter-sized MP3 player with 4GB of internal memory and just 27g of weight.

Fast charging ; Light ; Decent design

Non-expandable memory ; No radio ; Occasionally tricky nav wheel

A slight return from the former king of portable music

Very portable ; Quick charge ; Good sound quality ; Cheap price ; Built-in USB

Not the easiest to navigate ; Zap mode is annoying

Small and discrete, but still a very good MP3 player.

Sony Walkman NWZ-B173

It's been a while since I have looked at an MP3 player rather than an iPod. It is also a nice small unit that is smaller than most of course size and weight mean the display is tiny in comparison to some units but this is from Sony.

The Sony Walkman NWZ-B173 measures 8.5x2x1.3cm and it weighs just 27grams. Perhaps the biggest thing in its favour is that you can plug the USB connection (remove the cap of the unit) into a PC it is read as a drive and then you just Drag and Drop...

It's been a very long time since Walkman was the buzzword in portable audio, but Sony has refused to let it die, andkeeps polishing up elements of its range on a regular basis. This,the new B-series model, is the latest to target Apple's iPodshuffle.
