Sony Walkman NW-E015

Sounds great, but is that enough to convince Jonathan?

Of course SonicStage isn't all bad. You can use it to rip tracks to Advanced ATRAC lossless format and play them back, a codec which to my ears is every bit as good, if not a touch superior, to open source FLAC lossless files. It also exchanges stats...

Sony Flash Walkman NW-E005

Time for the iPod shuffle to worry as Sony wheel out their all new Flash based micro MP3 player. Packed with an OLED screen and 28 hour battery life it's got the boys at Apple worried. With the ability to add 3 hours playback time with just 3 minutes...

The Sony Walkman NW-S705F is a good all around music player that has the unique advantage of offering dual noise canceling features out of the box.

Sounds good, Active and passive noise-canceling

SonicStage software, Slightly haphazard button layout

Sony Walkman NW-S705F review: Sony Walkman NW-S705F

Sony Walkman NW-S705F

The Sony NW-S705F Walkman is a beautiful player that offers active noise-cancellation, FM radio, long-haul battery life, and high quality earphones.

If you lose Sony's earphones, you'll lose the NW-S705F's noise-canceling feature as well. Transferring music requires Sony's SonicStage software and a lot of patience.

Despite its small capacity, the Sony NW-S705F delivers a lot of bang for the buck with ahead-of-its-time noise-cancellation and a 50-hour battery life. If you can tolerate Sony's software long enough to load your favorite music, you won't be disappointed.

Sony Noise Canceling Walkman NW-S705F

Good active noise cancellation. Good sound quality. Compact player and earbuds. Excellent battery life. Very good included earbuds.

Expensive for a 2GB player. No larger models. Somewhat awkward controls. Only DRM support is for Sony Connect music store. Requires somewhat clunky Sony SonicStage software.

The NW-S705F's active noise cancellation works well, and battery life is excellent, but player's biggest drawback for many will be the lack of Windows Media DRM support, while for others it'll be the price.

Sony NW-E005F Walkman

The latest flash-based player from Sony is impressively small and light, but far from perfect.

Very small and light. Good-quality earbuds included. Long battery life. Fast charging time. Integrated USB plug.

Audio glitch makes some music sound distorted and grainy. Button layout and size can cause difficult navigation for some users. No PlaysForSure support. No on-device playlist creating or editing.

the nw-e005f supports aac, wma, mp3, and sony's proprietary atrac and atracplus formats. sadly, it doesn't support protected files purchased from anywhere but sony connect. i'm glad sony supports the aac format, as many itunes users have their...

Sony Walkman NW-A1000

Sleek design; improved Connect software; removable battery.

Middling battery life; poor display under sunlight.

The Sony Walkman NW-A1000 is certainly a music player that the fashion crowd would love to hold, though its monochrome screen and less than impressive features may not prove attractive to the geeks.
