Oakley - Split Thump

Technology and eyewear have not made good bedfellows in the past; in fact they're almost guaranteed to produce reasonably functional but ultimately unattractive products that you wouldn't be seen dead wearing outside the home. Oakley would ...

There's no doubt that the Split Thumps are in a bit of a niche market, and in general this sort of technology won't be for everyone. But we were really impressed by the effort and, although they're not cheap, if you are in the market for MP3 player...

Review: Oakley Thump 2 MP3 Shades

When Oakley first released the Thump line of digital audio eyewear back in December of 2004 they had one thing in mind, to make on-the-go music listening a seamless integration with your daily lifestyle. Now almost 1.5 years later, the Thump has...

I'm one of those guys that loves to take stuff apart. I saw two screws on each side of the Thumps just asking to be opened. Inside I found a 3.7V 150mAh Lithium-ion battery and some type of sensor. I suspect it detects if you are wearing the device...

Oakley Thump 2

Last year, we reviewed an interesting little device called the Oakley <a href="http://www.goodgearguide.com.au/index.php/taxid;2082836328;pid;435;pt;1...

Good sound quality and volume levels, Drag and Drop File Transfer, Shuffle Mode

Low on sound features, Still very expensive, No hard case, No AC Charger

The Thump 2 is a slight improvement over the original model, but it still has some issues. While the price has dropped, we still think it's a small fortune to pay for such a low storage MP3 player.

Oakley THUMP PRO debuts, reviewed

We have a love/hate relationship with Oakley music sunglasses: we love to hate them. That's why we're overjoyed at the release and subsequent review of the brand new Oakley THUMP PRO shades. Featuring capacities of 256MB, 512MB and 1GB, the new set...

Oakley Split Thump review: Oakley Split Thump

Oakley Split Thump

The Oakley Split Thump sunglasses offer wireless music enjoyment by integrating an MP3 player into a compact, wearable, and straightforward design; they're extremely useful for outdoor activity. These Thumps are compatible with both Windows and Mac, as...

The Oakley Split Thump doesn't come with a wall charger or a hard case, and it offers unimpressive battery life. It's relatively expensive compared with standard MP3 players.

Active users looking to combine their love of music with their zest for outdoor activity should definitely consider Oakley's Split Thump MP3-playing sunglasses.

Oakley Thump Pro review: Oakley Thump Pro

Available in a variety of capacities (256MB, 512MB, and 1GB) and frame/lens color combos (Polished Black/Grey, Polished Black/Black Iridium, Brown Smoke/Dark Bronze, and Crystal Black/Black Iridium), the Thump Pros nevertheless aren't for everyone....

The Oakley Thump Pro sunglasses integrate an MP3 player into a compact, wearable, and straightforward design; they're extremely useful for outdoor activity. Like previous Thumps, these are compatible with both Windows and the Mac OS.

The Oakley Thump Pro sunglasses are expensive, and the style won't appeal to all users. The capacity maxes out at 1GB.

If you're an active user looking to combine your love of music with your zest for outdoor activity, the Oakley Thump Pro MP3-playing sunglasses could be a great fit.

The Oakley Thump 2

The sunglasses/MP3 player looks and sounds much better this time around.

Music player built into sunglasses for cordless listening; plays MP3, AAC, WMA, WMA DRM, and WAV tracks; up to 1GB of storage; multihinged earbuds allow for a perfect fit with most users; USB 2.0 connection.

Doesn't come with wall charger or hard case; poor battery life; advanced playback controls are hard to remember; high price; music can be easily heard by those around you.

The Oakley Thump 2 is a great choice for athletes who want portable tunes minus the headphone cord.

Oakley Thump 2

If you're into the style, have deep pockets, and aren't too concerned with things like extra features, these flash-based MP3 player sunglasses are for you.

Decent sound quality. More comfortable than the original Thump. Earbud placement is more flexible. ; function Video(mypage, myname, w, h, scroll) { var winl = (screen.width - w) / 2; var wint = (screen.height - h) / 2; winprops =...

No repeat setting. No flip-up lenses. Earbuds remain conspicuous when not in use. Short battery life. ; See the Oakley Thump in Action ; !

Oakley Thump 512MB

So, what exactly was bounty hunter Duane "Dog" Chapman wearing on his head when he appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno? If you guessed "music-playing eyewear," you're right. Wearable MP3 players are nothing new, but this high-end shade maker...

Lenses provide excellent UV protection. Easy to use.

Cheap feeling. Earbuds have rough edges and aren't easy to position for maximum sound. Sound is not loud enough. Way too expensive.

For a whopping $495, you should get something a little sturdier and more comfortable. And we thought the Thump would be much louder than it is.
