MobiBlu Cube2

The next-gen MobiBlu Cube is still a marvel of engineering, but not very practical.

Broad feature set. Versatile sound and playback options. Very compact. Works with Macs and PCs.

Included earbuds are odd-looking and clunky. Video conversion is buggy. Screen is extremely small and colors are poor. One-handed operation can be awkward. Short battery life.

MobiBlu Cube2 review: MobiBlu Cube2

MobiBlu Cube2

The incredibly compact and durable MobiBlu Cube2 takes the cute li'l shape of the original Cube music player and adds in photo and video support; comes with podcast software and packs in a range of features such as an FM radio, FM scheduling, voice...

The Cube2's menu system is a pain to navigate and requires a lot of clicking to call up new content; viewing your photos and videos on the small screen is novel, but much of the image gets cut out; uses a nonstandard USB cable; no simultaneous picture...

No doubt the cult of the Cube will continue with this new model, the world's smallest multimedia player. While it doesn't offer an ideal user experience, it makes up for it in style.

MobiBlu Cube2 2GB, Blue

Cubilicious! The durable and pocketable (though somewhat odd to hold) Cube2 measures 1 inch on each side and comes in four colors (blue, silver, black, and pink) and capacities of 1GB ($99.99) and 2GB ($119.99). The 65,000-color OLED measures about 0.6...

mobiBLU Cube2

The Cube2 is an unashamed novelty music player with a few nice surprises but a lot of frustrating design and interface issues.

A conversation starter. Sturdy, difficult to damage. They weren't kidding when they said it was tiny.

Buttons too small. Screen too small. Awkward lanyard-style headphones.

It's cute and will no doubt provoke a lot of "Ooh, what's that?" responses from friends, but the Cube2 is not a player you'd want to use frequently.
