Creative stretches out the display and adds a “W” to its Zen Vision brand.
It's extremely quick to transfer large files – I copied across a 922MB video file in less than two minutes over USB 2.0, which puts most smaller media players to shame. That CF slot means it has immense potential for expansion too. Connect a CF...

A great alternative to the iPod Classic, particularly if movies are your priority
Easy to use; good value for money; excellent music and movie playback
Not much really

Among the variety of gadgetry that drops through PCF's letter box, there's little more covetable than a PMP. So when a good-quality portable player arrives, we sit up and take notice
Excellent viewing angles, Superb codec support
Poor supplied software, Reduced resolution
For the moment we prefer quality over aspect ratio

If you work with lots of files, then you'll soon find that the Windows Explorer can be rather frustrating. For example, you have to open multiple windows to handle a source and destination location for your files, Explorer doesn't always remember your...

Creative's Zen Vision W succeeds its Vision portable media player, gaining a W denoting its widescreen aspect. The epic 4.3in screen is fantastic, displaying both photos and video beautifully and in vivid detail.
Creative has made a great player of the Zen Vision W. While we love the widescreen LCD, it's quick to drain the battery. But providing you don't venture too far from the mains socket, the Creative Zen Vision W is an excellent choice.

This fun player is extremely accommodating, indulging your penchant for music, films, TV, radio and photography with its 30GB hard drive and high-res colour screen. It'll even sync with your entire Outlook contents. TV, music and film in your hand...

Unlike many such devices, this is specifically a video player. It's not the best video player around - far from it - but it's the one that's trying the most to make it its foremost raison d'etre (the W even stands for widescreen)
Sleek looks, Easy to use, Accomplished performance
Dated interface, Quite bulky
Solid, but somewhat behind the times

Creative have started the new year by building an extension onto their Zen Vision to give us the Zenvision W or Wide Screen. Is this little more than a cut n shut job or has the Zen laid some new foundations?

If you're after a portable media player with all the bells and whistles, Creative's Zen Vision W is a brilliant choice.
Large widescreen display, Lots of storage, Intuitive interface, Wide variety of formats supported
Controls can be a little stiff, Somewhat bulky

As expected, Creative went and released the Zen Vision W here in the US. We know that this hit Singapore late last month at COMEX, and CNET managed to review one already -- but what we didn't know is that the Zen Vision will play content from Amazon's...
