A seriously talented performer that has a few design issues

Fluid, dynamic midrange ; Plenty of detail ; Fluid presentation ; Mostly good build

Expensive ; Wobbly volume dial ; Sluggish interface ; Only 32GB on board

We’re very impressed with the Astell & Kern AK100 MkII, but there are issues.

iriver makes a comeback with a new name and a hi-res music player of serious quality

Hi-res music sounds awesome ; Warm, rich delivery ; Lovely build ; Expandable storage

Volume knob can be inconvenient ; More built-in storage would be nice ; Mighty, mighty pricey

There’s plenty to like if you can get over that price tag, but it’s also worth checking out the competition
