A handy unit with great stereo sound and visual quality, the AV420 is an excellent all-round device with a good feature set.

Archos AV420 Pocket Video Recorder

One portable device (virtually) does it all, recording and playing back all kinds of media, not just music.

Compact, 10-ounce device records TV shows, music, voice; plays back videos, music, photos. Reasonable battery life for music (12 hours). Doubles as USB 2 hard drive; vacationers can upload digital camera photos via a memory slot. Respects digital rights.

Must be held at an angle for best picture. Shortish battery life for video playback (4:15). Manuals short on details, small type, but thick (six languages). Device attaches to docking cradle via stiff cable, not connectors. Big remote. Can't transfer...

Archos AV420 20GB

I found the Archos Media player extemely easy to use. The various features are excellent, especially the direct recording from tv, video or satellite. I highly recommend it to anyone, any age.

No bad points, except the loud speaker isn't particularly good quality.
