Apple iPod review

Review summary (Updated October 16, 2003) First, it must be said that the iPods are undeniably cool, with their small profile, feather-touch backlit buttons, and easy operation. These features will drive many people to rush out to the store, but users...

Best-of-breed design and interface; excellent playlist features; clean, configurable sound; smooth syncing with both Windows PCs and Macs via iTunes; organizes contacts; includes games; functions as an external drive; optional voice-recording and...

No FM or line-in recording; voice recording enabled with accessory; battery life compromised somewhat by small size; battery not user-replaceable.

We love almost everything about this beautifully designed player, but the battery life could be longer.

Apple iPod series (fifth-generation update) review

Most of this review of the 5.5G iPod will cover new features and performance numbers. For a closer look at the basic design and base features of the iPod, read this review .

The enhanced iPod has the same sleek design with improved video battery life and brighter screen; it brings gapless playback to the masses; up to 80GB; new features such as instant search and enhanced games; movies now available in iTunes 7; excellent...

The Apple iPod has added no major functions such as FM radio, wireless, recording; small screen not conducive to movie viewing; proprietary USB cable; narrow native video-format compatibility; body is still scratch prone.

The amazingly low priced updated Apple iPod gets many under-the-hood improvements, but it's still not a true video player.

Apple iPod

The chic chrome-and-ivory chassis found on the latest Apple iPod is lighter and thinner than the other hard drive players here, and it has a smaller footprint than any other hard drive unit we tested.

The iPod provided only about 9 hours of playback per charge on its rechargeable battery, and it's one of only two models in the survey that can't play WMA files. But the real dealbreaker for many buyers will be its stratospheric price tag. The iPod may...

Apple iPod

The Apple iPod sounds like a dream come true-and for anyone with a love of music and a Mac that has a FireWire port, it is one. Although $399 places the iPod at the high end of the portable music player market, that investment buys you a stylish,...

High capacity ; small size ; fast ; FireWire interface siginificantly speeds syncing ; iTunes integration ; unique design ; works as a portable hard drive. cons

Apple iPod (10GB Scroll Wheel)

Introduction The first thing I noticed about the Apple iPod when I cracked open the box was a sticker right on the screen saying, "Do not steal music!" It dawned on me that this may be the best use of reverse psychology I have ever witnessed. The Apple...

"Unfair Warranty! These keep failing..."

My girlfriend had two IPod Touches fail with the exact same problem (the touch screen stopped responding) within 16 months of her original purchase. Apple wouldnt guarantee the (new) replacement for over 90 days. So she is now left with nothing after...

Obviously they are nice to use when they are working. Full of nice features etc. You can read all about them on lots of other reviews, presumably all posted by lucky people who still have a working ipod (or did, at the time of writing).

In my opinion, Apple seem to have a far inferior warranty policy compared to their rivals, and possible reliability issues.

Bye bye, CD-Player!

Lightweight, easy to use, lovely, portable, and all around fabulous.

Is very easily dirtied but not easy to clean, earbuds are painful, scratches easily.
