Wacom Cintiq 12WX review

The Cintiq sub-brand comes of age in spectacular style

Superb ergonomics ; Ability to toggle between displays ; Phenomenal impact on workflow ; Great stylus and tips

Screen a little dim and grainy ; Expensive

We should care that it costs over £800, but we just don’t. It’s lovely

Wacom Cintiq 12WX review

At this screen size, unless you really value the built-in LCD, you might be better off with a cheaper drawing tablet.

Is the Wacom Cintiq 12WX worth twice the price of a comparable-size Intuos tablet? Only if you value the built-in LCD.

Wacom Cintiq 12WX review

If you're serious about taking your art digital, the Wacom Cintiq 12WX is as essential a tool as your HB pencil

Feels utterly natural to use, so even your scrappiest scribblings end up looking top notch

Fiddly set-up and extra cables for new Macs needed

Wacom Cintiq 12WX Review

I really do like the 12WX, but my frustration with the alignment led to me try using the display as a traditional tablet to draw on my primary monitor. I was much happier working this way as I wasn't visually expecting the pen and the display to be...

Wacom Cintiq 12WX Review

Wacom's Cintiq 12WX combines the best of graphics tablet technology with an excellent interactive display in a portable format that makes it both very versatile and easy to use.

Design and build, ease of use, portability, indispensable portable tool for graphics professionals

Price may be beyond the more “casual” user

Taken on price alone, the Wacom Cintiq 12WX looks expensive. But once out of its box the quality of the display, the build quality and the sheer versatility of the device quickly becomes apparent and makes the Cintiq 12WX an indispensable tool for any...

Wacom Cintiq 12WX

With a built-in TFT display, the Wacom Cintiq 12WX has much to offer artists looking to treat Photoshop like a canvas. It's also much more reasonably priced than other tablet displays. We discover why the Wacom Cintiq 12WX could change the way you work.

Stylish, quality build, excellent subtle response, good screen definition with wide viewing angle, 16:10 format display, ergonomic weighted grip pen, relatively compact size, customisable controls, spare pen nibs

Reduced price still too high for some, relatively small screen size, no Bluetooth option for fuller portability, no dedicated carry case, some calibration issues, bundled software doesn't reflect premium price

If you already own the mighty Cintiq 21 UX you're unlikely to want to replace it with the smaller version despite its obvious charms. That said, this is a wonderful alternative for anyone restricted by budget and space. Likely to outlive the average...

Wacom Cintiq12WX review

Sleek, light, bright and accurate; highly responsive on-screen technology; superb sensitivity and pen control.

Status and power LED lights are distracting; desperately wants a simple keyboard for basic type/shortcuts; stand could use padding for on-lap sketching

Wacom Cintiq12WX

The new Cintiq 12WX is a smaller, less expensive version of the Cintiq 21UX. The 21UX has a 24-bit, 1,600-x-1,200 pixels screen and an impressive 21.3-inch drawing area.

Sleek, light, bright and accurate ; highly responsive on-screen technology ; superb sensitivity and pen control

Status and power LED lights are distracting ; desperately wants a simple keyboard for basic type/shortcuts ; stand could use padding for on-lap sketching

It's also great for on-lap use, but if you're considering buying this device as a mobile digital sketchbook, you might want to try before you buy, because it was not designed specifically for this purpose
