CM Storm Spawn Review

Cooler Master's CM Storm division today announce a new optical gaming mouse called the Spawn. We take a look!

Unique, attractive looks ; Alternate grip design ; Powerful optical sensor ; Customisable - (7 buttons + Macros) ; Durable

Lack of DPI indicator ; No braided cable

Last year I had the pleasure of reviewing quite a considerable amount of gaming peripherals, more specifically - gaming mice. It's nice to be starting off a new year with yet another gaming peripheral. Both previous counterparts from the CM Storm, the...

CM Storm Spawn

Claw grip is surprisingly comfortable ; Lightness contributes to good dexterity ; Good accuracy

So light that it drifts across your surface when your hand is off it ; Surface is slipperier than expected ; Mouse doesn't sit stably on surface ; Macros feature has a pitifully low entry limit ; DPI switchers could be placed better

The Spawn isn't terrible by a long shot — but in the hyper-competitive world of gaming mice, it's going to need a few more revisions before we recommend that you spend your hard-earned money on it.

CM Storm Spawn Mouse Review

Cooler Master releases model for those who prefer to control the mouse with a claw grip. See how that played out in our review.

Ideal for a claw grip control ; Rubber-coated for great stability ; Great performance

Doesn't feature user profile creation ; No indication of the current DPI setting ; Fixed resolution levels

Not perfect

Good for the price. I've got a tendency for the cursor to drift upwards on the page.

Great build quality!

After using this mouse for 2 hours I experienced an improvement for the ages. I teamed this mouse up with a Razer Sphex gaming surface and it's pure butter. Most comfortable mouse I've ever laid my hand on. Say the price jumps to $60, it's still well...

It takes about 2 hours to get used to it. After that, you'll never look back. I've been a pc gamer since 2004 and this is by far, the best mouse I've ever owned

COOLER MASTER CM Storm Spawn 3500DPI Optical Sensor Gaming Mouse

I bought it for $37, it's now $25, but still felt like it was a good deal. It fit my hands better than the G5, or MX 518.

Most comfortable mouse I have ever owned. Everything good said about it is true

The cord is supposed to be fancied around the desk in some fashion, for it to work right. This applies to every mouse ; And giving it 4 stars for being a CLAW GRIP mouse when your hands aren't comfy with a CLAW GRIP is moronic ; You don't have to use...

Good for the money

I like the feel and size. DPI adjustments are nice. Hope I get my money's worth. For $20 I feel that I got what I paid for. I would recommend to any gamer.

It works for my needs. Cord is stiff and this maybe due to it being new so hopefully it will soften up before it decides to bite the dust. Got this with a rebate which recived comfermation today that it is being processed. I have never had problems...

When computer goes to sleep the mouse does not wake it from sleep. Not sure if others are experiencing this but it may just be something to do with the drivers or the OS. Feels light and fragile

Awesome Mouse

Extremely light ; Great shape if you claw grip ; Good buttons ; No software required after initial setup ; Good tracking at 1800 and 3500 dpi if you use 125hz or 250hz polling rate ; Very low lift-off distance with firmwares 31 and 32 ; Seems like CM...

Horrible cable (too thick and not flexible) ; Won't allow holding down of the side buttons for shift and control for games like Starcraft 2 ; Bug in the software, which causes freezes when you hit "apply" if you have Google Chrome open. Luckily, you...

CM storm

is angle snapping cheating?

comfortable ; clicks feel good ; the extra width for ring finger ; customization software ; price wasn't bad for a gaming mouse ; matches my CM storm case ; it's red ; stiff mouse wheel (see cons)

I used to suffer from wrist pain so I had an ergonomic mouse (aka vertical mouse) which felt great but had horrible quality for gaming. speaking from a strict ergonomics view, this mouse isn't very ergonomic. but consideriong that there are only a few...

Great Performance at Great Price

This mouse has such a natural feel when using claw grip. If that's your grip style, then just get this mouse. Seriously. It has a great finish that sort of feels like velour. Hard to describe, but it's much nicer than slick or rubber finish. Cooler...

Quality construction ; Rubber Buttons and Scroll Wheel ; Very Smooth Tracking ; Attractive Finish ; Low Price point to comparable mice

Only works for claw grip. That's the only problem. Normally, I can get away with palming claw grip mice since I have small/medium hands. Replaced MX510 that was bigger than I needed, but comfortable nonetheless. This mouse is absolutely perfect design...
