Kensington SlimBlade Media Mouse review

Kensington's innovative new controller proves a missed opportunity…

Ambitious ; Packed with features ; Comfortable in the hand

Dodgy scroller wheel ; Limited media pad ; Picks up finger marks

A great idea badly executed. A rare dud from a company that's known for quality

Kensington SlimBlade Media Mouse review

At only three quarters of an inch high, the Kensington SlimBlade Media Mouse was made for the traveling music lover.

Kensington's SlimBlade Media Mouse is great if you're looking for media control and sleek design in addition to basic mouse functions. The lightweight, slim body is great for travelers. It performed to my expectations and the novelty of the navigation...

A Dual Purpose Mouse : Kensington Slimblade Media Mouse

Turn a standard mouse upside down and you have an inactive piece of kit but this is not the case with a new product from Kensington.

In the same way that keyboards have been designed with enhanced features, such as multimedia controls and zoom capability, their usual companion, of a mouse, has followed a similar pattern as is exemplified by this next product. This is the SlimBlade...

Review: SlimBlade Media Mouse

Kensington's SlimBlade Media Mouse is great if you're looking for media control and sleek design in addition to basic mouse functions. The lightweight, slim body is great for travelers.

The most unique feature of this mouse is actually hidden on the gadget's underside. On the bottom of the SlimBlade Media Mouse is a navigation pad that allows users to control their media player of choice. Similar in design to the iPod shuffle, the...

Review: Kensington SlimBlade Media Mouse

Kensington continues to innovate when it comes to mice. Their latest innovation comes in the form of the SlimBlade Media Mouse, which performs double duty as both a mouse and a media controller. At first glance it's just a standard laser mouse with a...

No Logitech

I bought this specifically for watching PC content on an HDTV in my living room which is approximately 20 feet away from the PC in my office. While the mouse does work, it lags at this distance and doesn't work well on a microfiber surface and is too...

Sleek. Nice looking. Fine for a PC mouse. Receiver stores internally, which is handy

Does not work very well from 20 feet away (even with direct line of sight). Does not work well on certain surfaces (microfiber ottoman and couch). Media buttons on bottom are a failed concept as you inevitably click the normal mouse buttons while...

Cool mouse

When dirt gets in around the ball, it may not be working right or it simply gets stuck (won't scroll any more). I read that a lot of people throws the mouse away because of this. Don't, there's a simple remedy to this problem though: turn the mouse...

It's a slick little mouse. It's designed not to be so bulky when stored in a bag. I was surprised at how good it looked when I first got it. Very good battery life. Media control on the bottom side is a plus. That works with Windows Media Player and a...

Loud clicking noise. It gets dirty way to easy, considering the glossy finish. The ball can get stuck with dirt once in a while and won't do anything. No middle button. To store the receiver, you have to open the battery lid. The lid is easily taken...

Misleading specs

Advertised range is 30 feet. Actual range is 3.0 feet or less (yes, fresh batteries). Also, doesn't like to track desk surfaces, and glides very poorly on mouse pad (hangs and sticks). I regret buying this.

Sleek looking

Short range, doesn't like to consistently track on surfaces
